I agree. God may say it is wrong, but who are we to judge. Let the first man without sin cast the first stone. I think that gays should be able to marry and be happy. They have that right! Honestly, I think the people who are against it, use the bible as a way of backing up what they say because they don't have anything else to back them up really. Just their opinions of what is right and wrong in their eyes. Which doesn't mean anything to the ones who are happy and in love with someone of the same sex. :-) God Bless ![]() |

Okay. I am a Roman Catholic. For the majority of my life, I was in church every single Sunday. At this point, while I am questioning certain aspects of the religion, I do not doubt my faith. No, I do not go to church at this point. I have found that at this point in my life, I get more through a one-on-one relationship with God than by going to church and 'going through the motions' so to speak. Even so, I consider myself open minded in certain issues. I am adamantly Pro-Life. Always will be. But for those who choose to live an alternative lifestyle(I prefer to use that term, not because I am ashamed to use the words 'gay' or otherwise, but because I hate labels of any kind). For it may describe their sexuality, it does not describe who that person really is. I think back to what we were taught in CCD, and other issues. The big fad bracelets... WWJD? What would Jesus do? Would he condemn these people? I don't think so. Why would Jesus or God condemn these people? They teach us to love and accept people of all races, creeds, colors, etc. Just because we don't agree with it on a personal level, that's our business. Granted, I'm still at home. But if I moved out, and my first neighbors were a gay couple with a child...I'd take over a small housewarming gift, welcome them to the neighborhood, and most likely offer to baby-sit anytime they needed someone. So, in my opinion, if God wouldn't judge them, why should we? ![]() |

Again, the marriage law is a "union" between a "man and a woman". Not a "union" between a 'man and man' or a 'woman and woman'. I think a new law should be passed that is a contract that would provide the same "contract" benefits and agreements as a marriage, but it would not be the word marriage. That is already a contract between a man and woman! Love and Light ![]() |

Gay marriage should be legal. Marriage, does not mean christian marriage. it does not mean muslim marriage, it does not require religious authority to marry someone, that would violate people's rights to freedom of religion. Therefore, since homosexuality is only considered a bad thing by religions, and not by law, you cannot deny a person the right to marry on the grounds of your religious beliefs. This is exactly the same as a christian saying saying "those Muslim people should not be allowed marry as their religion is wrong." for example. Just because two gay people cannot reproduce, does not mean marriage should be ruled out, sterile heterosexual couples are not forbidden to marry. My point is, that homosexuality can only be argued against from a religious point of view, and you cannot define marriage for everyone, by your own personal beliefs. ![]() |

LOL to Badgirl,I shall try to reply in brief. There are two sides to marriage. On one side is the one recognized in church, the other by the state. I will reply on the one involving the state for they are seperate issues. Here goes, marriage as an institute is a miserable failure. It discriminates against women and places them in a minority position both socially and economcally. This should not be. Futhermore the success rate of marriage is less than 50%.Divorces outnumber marriages in this country. Marriage as an institute governed by the laws of the state has failed miserably! The state should view any binding contract between two people,as in marriage, with blind eyes so as to not discriminate between the two consenting parties, be they women, strait, gay, black or white or aliens. State law is what's at issue here not biblical reform. My biblical views will be stated at another time.Thank you for hearing me. Don aka woodshed ![]() |
Date: 2/4/2004 1:45:00 PM From Authorid: 62339 System 44, yes men and woman do have different reproductive organs for the purpous of reproduction. So what? People don't get married to reproduce you know. They get married for love or money or compatibility but not for the sole purpous of making babies. We have 7 billion people on the planet anyway so less babies is good. The government is not supposed to favor any religion so why should gay marriage be illegal just because Christians beleive being gay is a "sin"? There is no proof that it's wrong and how can something that doesn't hurt anyone else or yourself be considered as wrong in the first place? A certain Religion beleives that their God says being gay is wrong so we should deny gays the right to be together through marriage? Well that's logical. If you do beleive being gay is a sin then you also beleive God will judge them when they die, so let Him. It isn't your job to judge but your Gods job so mind your own buisness and let him take care of it. I also find it interesting that all these people are saying "Well God says it's wrong so it must be". Obviously these people do not think for themselves but beleive whatever they think they should believe. Remember, not everyone has the same beleifs and most people do not consider being gay to be wrong and gay people certainly don't think it's wrong so stop trying to control what they should and shouldn't be able to do. (This whole post isn't directed at system44 but is refering to people in general) |
