Why bad things happen to good people...

Just recently I've come upon a revolution that has quite literally changed my life.

For many years I was severely depressed because of the abuse I suffered in my childhood causing me to be taken away from my mother by the state.

I feel it was a message from above that told me this...

If I had never been abused and taken away from my mother I would have continued to live on the streets and in the projects in neighborhoods where gangs, crime and drugs were prevalant. I would have probably gotten involved in those things as a teenager. My learning disability would have never been diagnosed so I probably would have dropped out of school, condemning me to a lifetime of dead end jobs. I would have never met my extended family (father, brothers, grandparents, aunts and uncles) My mother had made herself a "black-sheep" and they would not talk to her and therefore not to me either. I might have ended up dead. I wouldn't have met my husband, or be where I am today. I wouldn't have the friends I have, and I wouldn't be typing this on this site right now because I would have never found USM.

So, I feel it is safe to say that this horrible experience, actually saved me!

Think about this a little bit, take a different point of view in your life, has a bad experience "saved" you?

Date: 2/4/2004 8:20:00 AM  From Authorid: 11528    Hi TDF, IM so glad to hear that You have found a way to look at things in a way that helps You deal with the trauma from the past. I only wish that I could apply Your formula to the circumstances of my own life but it doesnt work in my case. Take Care, keep thinking positive and carry on. Bye for now. Enki

Date: 2/5/2004 7:20:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 60052    My mother has a mental problem, she thought I was posessed by the devil and tried to kill me.
Date: 2/5/2004 7:27:00 AM  From Authorid: 54247    Thanks for sharing. How old were you when you were taken away? Have to agree families are great - mine sure pitched in when my mother died at my birth - they didn't always get along, but they loved me and I loved them. Took a long time to realize I did not have to pick one of four mothers over the other - LOVED THEM ALL! rat
