Lumbar Sprains -- Long Term Damage? .......................... ~Gina/Moonpriestess~

Hey guys. :)

I went to the doctor the other day and was telling him about my back always hurting. He then noticed that my legs were different lengths and asked if they have always been that way. They havent, I have never had a doctor say that before, and I have been many times for my back. He then showed me where my pelvic bones were about an inch off from one another. He had me stand and looked at my back and said that I have a curve in my lower spine and asked if I had always had that. Nope again, never before has a doctor told me that. He told me that if I ever gain weight that my back would not support my body. :(

Anyway, what I am wondering is if anyone is familiar with this. Also, I fell at work last year and when they sent me to their doctors, I was diagnosed with a lumbar sprain. All of these things started after that.

So what I am wondering is can a lumbar sprain cause long term damage like this?

Thanks guys. Gina

I didn't even see your post till I went into Chat room, which is probably the first time I have been in chat in 3 years. You oughta right Kiki, too, if you haven't already! Love and Light

Date: 2/3/2004 5:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 54247    Yes, I have - in fact had back surgery many, many years ago. Right now, I have find a wonderful chiropractor here in California. I was really deteriorating and could not walk a straight line. It has been a miracle and he can punch a few points along my spine. Really has made a difference. WARNING not all chiros are that good - went to many over the years that did not help at all. RAT
Date: 2/3/2004 5:54:00 PM  From Authorid: 21435    Hello, Moonpriestess. Back pain is rough. Follow your doctor's advice and maybe even get a second opinion. When dealing with one's back, it does not pay to delay. Seldom gets better..I hate to go gloom and doom, but I had surgery in '02 for a ruptured disk. I'd been in pain for about a year and a half, but wrote it off as muscle strain. To make a long story short, I waited too long and a calcium spur formed and went into my spinal column, puctured the cerebral duct and that kept me in the hospital longer and complicated recovery..Soooooo...find out what can be done, my former neighbor to the west..*wink* Best wishes to you..Write on...
Date: 2/3/2004 8:07:00 PM  From Authorid: 57232    awww Gina, this sounds so horrible. What attracted me to this post is yikes I had a "Lumbar Puncture" before, and in case you didn't know, that's aka..Spinal Tap, and they are no good, so if it's any consolation you didn't have to experience that (I experienced it twice in the same day). I don't know too much medical stuff, is it possible to fuse some bones together or add fake. Oh I hope you figure it out. Sounds bad.
Date: 2/4/2004 1:54:00 AM  From Authorid: 12862    Oh Gina, back problems I know well. I broke my 3rd lumbar having all 4 of my kids. The surgeon said with each one I gave birth to cracked it and my last child broke it completely. I now have 4 screws, 2 rods and bone from my hip fused in there. This was done 8 yrs ago and I'm still having terrible pain in the bone. The muscle around it does hurt at times but the bone is getting worse. Now my family doctor says nerves are getting pinched also cause I have no reflexes in my legs, plus my toes go numb. One screw get caught on the bone alot of the time. Boy do I feel that when it happens. It makes a snapping sound you can hear standing next to me. I would like to find a new orthopedic surgeon someday to relook at everything in there because the last one didn't do something right. He was the same doctor who misdiagnosed my daughters cancer also. Anyways, I can't go back to work till I get it redone. Disability doesn't pay at all. I need to go back to work badly. I hope your back doesn't get this bad. Take care of it. Hugs,
Date: 2/4/2004 8:33:00 AM  From Authorid: 11528    Hi Gina, Oh Boy, Yeah I know all about Lumbar troubles and stuff like that. Ive had a ton of problems since my motorcycle accidents back in the lat seventies. I finally got the lumbar troubles under control myself. The different lenghts of legs is a normal thing and is easily corrected. Do it now cause it will eventually cause You all kinds of problems in Your feet and lower back. I'll have to send You some info that can save You tons of pain. Bye for now. Enki
