I am no expert on these wonderful creatures, but I do know they eat very little and not everyday. They have to have a warm climate, with water. It may help if you can get to a librqqry and see if they have any books to learn from.. another idea is to go to http://www.google.com and type in the words chameleon care and handling.. that will probably give you over 40,000 pages to choose from and some of that info about animal care on the internet is very good and helpful... |

The main type of food easily found in your local petstore are crickets. They are rather cheap and easy to keep in a small aquarium. However, they are not very nutritious. Before you feed them to your chameleon, allow them to eat some nutritious foods such as collard greens, potatoes, fruits, and vegaetables
Chameleons need a varied diet. To accomplish this, you must feed them other insects besides crickets. Mealworms, Superworms, Waxworms, Moths, Flies, and other insects do well. You can also catch wild insects as long as they aren't poisonous or from areas where pesticides have been used.
All food items should be dusted with vitamin and mineral supplements as well as calcium. Some supplements you can use are Sticky Tongue Farms Miner-All, RepCAL, and Herptivite. These work really well in providing the vitamins and calcium that your chameleons need. You should dust your chameleon's food 2-3 times weekly. This should provide your chameleon with the proper amount of nutrition. |

Your in trouble....chameleons need special care. Go to the pet store and buy crickets...get the protein powder coating for the crickets also. You cant put them in aquariums either...you will either need to buy or build a free moving air container (like a box with screen sides). You will need to buy three different lights in three different spectrums to keep them healthy. My friend ended up paying like 800 bucks before the habitat was complete....go to this link for some ideas. http://www.expandtheworld.com/html/sadiki_the_chameleon_page_3.html |

Honestly, I have no knowledge at all about Chameleons. I would strongly advise you to go to google or some other search engine and type in Chameleon Care & further educate yourself about the species....I own exotic animals & I have learned that they often take special care. For instance, I have sugar gliders, without calcium, or if they have too much phosphorus, they will surely die. You want to make sure that you know about anything that the Chameleons might die from a lack of or simply things that will kill them. Quickly, go educate yourself about these creatures, I am sure there are hundreds of internet sites that can tell you how to care for them. Thanks for sharing, I wish you the best of luck with your new pets. Take Care! |

so one more question to all chameleon owners, will heaters be good or bad for them in this freezing weather(since I've learned they like warm, damp weather (ofcourse I wont scorch them with it, I'll keep it a good distance away from them)should I use it or not? gotta go insect hunting too (the closest place to a petshop is FRANCE!!) |

Don't use a heater, it's better to use a sunlamp or even a 100 watt light bulb over the cage. |
