Your greatest fear if there is an earthquake?...***TRIAD

Earthquakes are frightening. I've been through a couple major ones here in the Pacific NorthWest. No damage was ever done, other than to my nervous system. A number of books came falling down from my bookcases...but that was no big deal.

I have a new stereo system which is the apple of my eye. It's two lovely speakers are perched up on the sides of my entertainment cabinet. My greatest dread is that the next time the earth moves my beloved speakers will fall to the floor and be destroyed. I am considering rigging up safety nets around the speakers so that in the event of an earthquake, the speakers will drop into the nets. This should prevent them from crashing more than six feet to the hard floor.

I like to sit and listen to my music while almost directly beneath one of the speakers. It could fall and split my head open. Maybe I should wear a hard hat when I'm listening to my stereo. If an earthquake occurs I might be able to grab the speaker & rescue it from certain serious damage or destruction upon the cruel hard floor below it.

Date: 2/1/2004 3:35:00 PM  From Authorid: 22275    lol crash helmet :-P My biggst fear is i will be crushed by the top bunk of my bunk bed if im on the bottom or crush someone sleeping on the bottom bunk, that my mom will be on the freeway and be killed in an accident, or ill be at school and see all of my friends get crushed
Date: 2/1/2004 3:37:00 PM  From Authorid: 28989    I used to live in tornado alley, and twisters would drop down all around my town, always missing where I lived. And the fear of them would never go away. I figure it'd be the same thing with earthquakes. Now I live three miles from the Rio Grande fault, which has been pretty quite in past decades. I hope you stay safe!

Date: 2/1/2004 3:39:00 PM  From Authorid: 56074    I also live near the New Madrid Fault and I'm always worried that we'll have an earthquake at school and that I won't be able to find a safe place. (our high school is VERY old and not safe at all)
Date: 2/1/2004 3:44:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 177    Hehe...I guess you know where my values lie. I'm much less afraid for myself or for others or even that my cabin may be rendered into splinters. So long as my precious speakers survive all will be fine.
Date: 2/1/2004 3:45:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 177    Could it be that I am slightly decadent?
Date: 2/1/2004 3:52:00 PM  From Authorid: 27403    You shoulput a couple ofteeny eye-hooks in studs in the ceiling about the speakers, and run invisible thread (maybe like fishing line which is strong) and attach to back of speakers some way. That way, if they fall, they are suspended ;}! Eathquakes would scare the me to death! Take a hurricane anytime! Love and Light
Date: 2/1/2004 3:53:00 PM  From Authorid: 27403    Well, I can't type of spell or something. Maybe cause I am watching Panthers win!!!! LOL Sorry 'bout that! Love and Light

Date: 2/1/2004 6:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 59371    I would not want any harm to come to my stereo, my computer, and especially my friends and family. Lightworker, I'm watching the SuperBowl too!
Date: 2/1/2004 6:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 12133    Nail the speaker to the wall
Date: 2/1/2004 9:00:00 PM  From Authorid: 3263    Gosh, there's so much. First I'd worry about my cats. Then I'd worry about my pictures. I figure my stepdad & his wife can get out on their own
