ok here is the problem, i know how to do it, but my computer won't accept the changes, it says it has to restart to make the appropriete changes. i have went into it further and made the necessary changes so that it wouldn't have to restart although it was of no help, it still won't work. my system specs are pentium-s 166, 40 mighty megabites of ram, and a 30 gig harddrive, a little insignificant system, windows 98 SE. this has happened to my families computer a couple times and it has eventually fixed its self but i don't really have the patience to wait it out because there are lots of things i would like to do but can't because of 16 colors and 600x480 res, any and all help will be very much appreciated. thanks everyone. oh and be as technical as you want, i am very computer literate i often fix them for my schools computer tech/teacher so it will be fairly hard to confuse me. i just haven't came across a fix for this yet and it would be nice to. thanks again for any help :).

Date: 2/1/2004 4:46:00 PM  From Authorid: 17666    It might be a problem with the video board. The same thing happened on my old computer. I don't know how to fix it though. Sorry. Maybe getting a new video board installed would help, I don't know.
Date: 2/1/2004 6:27:00 PM  From Authorid: 38849    My guess is videocard drivers need to be re-installed. A couple utilities you may find useful are: aida32(which will help you identify the videocard you have), and driverclear which will clean the current set of drivers off the computer(if it is a fairly common videocard brand) are quite helpful.

It is where I'd start out if I were attempting to fix it. --

Date: 2/2/2004 5:13:00 AM  From Authorid: 54987    For some reason you don't have the proper video driver installed. That happened to me when mine went down. Go to the windows site and find the right driver and download it. Mine is the same configuration as yours and mine is Neomagic MagicGriaph 128XD. Good luck.
