"Misconception"....kronk

A room, buried deep in shifting sands-

Brittle bones, scattered in four corners-

Piles of dust that once were linen-

Ghostly-light from some hidden air duct-

A while since I visited your shrine-


Still...too still the desert air.

Scarab beetle husks lay lifeless.

Their food exhausted long ago.


Only your memory remains secure, your highness.

Fast, in that stone and golden shell?

I, alone know of your secret and

that your coffin, does lies empty.


Once this land and all who trod it,

small and great, belonged to you.

A swim in the Nile, one night, unguarded-

None allowed to question a living god-


Royal meat, to nourish the crocodiles-
