Things are starting to come up missing ( officially freaked)

We have not ever really had the problem of thigns showing up missing before . You'll enjoy this story , it's kind of funny . Just a few minutes ago at 6:05pm eastern time , my mother came down to the basment and she was kind of shook up . Previously , our toilet had been clogged. ( sorry for the info but I gotta give dtails if you wanna understand the story)Any how .....this thing was backed up for a long time and I had been having a fit about it ...so my mom went in and took care of it , and obviously got it fixed because about a half hour ago she came down stairs demanding to know where the toilet scrubber brush was . (OK like I would know , I carry one in my back pocket :p) . So I tell her " Mom , I have no clue , I think dad got rid of it when he cleaned in there last time . " She argues back, " No he did not ! I cleaned the bathroom last week and I used it . I should know " . So , I said nothing more ....Like I should know where this toilet brush is :-/ . Mom is going nuts because she wants to scrub the toilet but has nothign to do it with . She looks in her room ( why ? I have no clue) the closets , down stairs where I am and under the beds . She couldn't find it . ( like it's a big deal right ??) Thats what I said ...but , just a few minutes ago she comes down stairs very quietly and says " I am scared now" So naturally I ask her why . Get this ....She says " I looked every where in this house for that dumb thing and couldn't find it , so I walk in the bathroom and there it is , proped up against the toilet !!" ( Our bathroom is really small , she would have not misplaced it in there) . Im thinking to my self " ok this is funky , we have never had this problem before , I mean , I think ghosts are real but we have not had problems with them . " Is it possible for a ghost to come to your house years after you have lived there ?? This is soo exciting I think !!
