Which One? What Is Your Beliefs? *Princess*Light*

Hi everyone! :) I am recently taking a class called Religious Concepts, and have found it to be very interesting and enlightening. We are in the process of studying all the major religions and what makes each of them special. I have come across a lot of terms about belief, and I was curious in what you believe...., and why you decided to follow that religion and faith.

I am interested in knowing what others feel are important to the spirit and soul. What are your most important factors in your faith? How do they help you in everyday life? Do you apply spiritual concepts when going through life? When making choices? There is so much more to each of us than just what we see, there is a spirit of harmony and love within each of us, and the more we go through life, the more we rely on our spirit and strength within to pull us through.

Or, do some of you not believe in the divine? Do you believe in science? Or nothing at all? Does your faith depend on life experiences?

(This is in no way trying to discriminate against anyones beliefs, faiths, or opinions- if we took the time to listen to each other we might learn in the end we are all one in the same) :) Thanks

How it changed my life:

I find this class very interesting, it challeneges you and makes you think on a deeper and higher level :)

Date: 1/30/2004 12:59:00 PM  From Authorid: 58334    I can honestly say I don't have any religous values or faiths. I'm just a free spirit. But I believe in karma and reincarnation. And that people should treat others no differently then how you want to be treated.
Date: 1/30/2004 1:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 11528    Hi POL, Not enough space to explain what I believe and the why I believe it. Just wanted to let You know I saw the post and acknowledge it. Bye for now. Enki
Date: 1/30/2004 1:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 34487    Well, I believe in God and have since I can remember. I've doubted things at times with regard to God but that's because I'm human. My doubts haven't been whether or not he exists but were based on whether he was listening or punishing me. I rarely have those doubts anymore, guess it comes with age! I base many of my decisions in life on my beliefs and on my faith in God. I pray about things and trust that he'll show me what I should do. Great post and a great class to take too!
Date: 1/30/2004 1:53:00 PM  From Authorid: 62506    I believe our souls originated in eternity with no begining and will exist in eternity with no end. All souls are connected on the spiritual plane. There are no past or future, only the present.
Flesh is a temporal. Those whom we know but are no longer with us are in a different dimention. This dimention is what most religions refer to as heaven. Birth and death transports us into and out of this dimention. Aging is a byproduct of the physical vessel we are housed in. Pretty much what everyone else believes, I would imagine.Just worded a little differently. Is there a name for this belief? I haven't found a satisfactory name yet. You may pick one if you wish. woodshed

Date: 1/30/2004 2:35:00 PM  From Authorid: 46068    hmmm, interesting comment Woodshed... What a fun class to be taking I am presently taking comparative religions which I presume is a similar class... Although I am confirmed Lutheran and am comfortable worshiping as such I would say that I am more or a non-denominational Christian right now... I do not wish to be subjected to any structure of religion other then what I feel must be true that there is a God and that (Jesus died for our sins) or at very least that the creator God does care about his/her creation.... Pretty open I suppose...
Date: 1/30/2004 4:37:00 PM  From Authorid: 62100    I'm not exactly sure what I believe really..I have a "wondering" mind that feels the need to read and research other possibilities and not just one. I do believe that there is some type of highre power..just not sure exactly who or what.
Date: 1/30/2004 7:35:00 PM  From Authorid: 25756    I haven't been really brought up with a religion or belief, so I'm kind of a dappeler(sp?) in all beliefs because I want to find a religion that is right for me. At the moment, my main thing seems to be reincarnation and that in each different life we live we have to learn a lesson...and our souls at one point learn all life lessons and then....I'm not sure.....I think about this a lot so it changes a lot.
Date: 1/30/2004 7:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 62086    My experience and beliefs are Salvation in Jesus Christ, & Once saved always saved, i also feel that we are in the last days and most churches are apostate, corporate, or both.

Date: 1/30/2004 8:36:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 11097    Thank you all for your thoughts and comments! A lot of you shared some very personal opinions and beliefs and I thank you for that. There is truth within the world, and perhaps so many different paths to obtain it. The basic foundation of all faith is love. This brings me to what I believe, you were all kind enough to share your thoughts so I will share mine .... I believe in God, and Jesus to be the Son of God. I believe when Jesus died on the cross so did the past and all our sins, when He resurrected and joined God in Heaven, a new faith was born, and that was pure love. Jesus died for us out of love, and also saved us. That act of pure love defeated all evil that day, and satan lost. Love can come in all forms, and everyone can experience it, just as everyone can experience faith. Love is the most powerful force in the world, and I believe if people united in love, together all shadows and evil would be defeated. All doubts would be gone, all pain and suffering would mend. Perhaps, thats what Heaven is like.... Thanks for listening and thanks so much for sharing! (((hugs)))
