I think it was on monday when it reached -39 C, it's so cold right now..and if it's just the temperature it wouldn't be as bad, but to add to the sucker there's high winds blowing everywhere. if you're in this city right now, you'd see a heavy white foggish thing everywhere, that's the snow flying in the air due to the wind. so -39 plus snow blowing in your face, I'd say that adds to a killer -45 C. on monday I went to canadian tire to buy a headphone, I almost died of frostbites on the way back..oh yea I walked there. but I thought it wouldn't be so bad, because canadian tired was just across the street...less than a block from the house. almost passed out..that's why I bought my first toque on tuesday.. I actually modified it into a mask (some toques are stretchy) It protects 90 percent of my face from frostbites..I cut two holes for my eyes. I look like some bank robber when I wear it.
yesterday when I was waiting for the bus for school, I saw a pedestrian trying to walk to a store or something, she had on like 30 layers..but she didn't modify a toque into a mask like I did, so 50% of her face was vulnerable to frostbites. I saw her struggling badly as she walks, she walked a few steps...then stopped. walked a few steps then stopped. it was like three minutes and she barely even moved from the spot. then she turned around and walked backwards! because the wind was coming to her, she had to do that otherwise there was NO WAY she could walk to the store. I don't get why people dont' make masks here instead of clothing that only cover 10% of your head..
for those who don't know how cold -39 is, go to your freezer, stick your head in it for a few minutes. now, imagine it's twice as cold, and there's snowy wind blowing in your face.
