Winter Conditions are HORRIBLE....

  Author:  62100  Category:(Interesting) Created:(1/19/2004 7:26:00 PM)

I just want to say to all of my friends out here in USM land (this means everyone as I haven't had the pleasure of meeting everyone "persoanlly" yet, but I consider you all as friends)..PLEASE, PLEASE be careful on the roads while traveling even a small way from your home. The conditions here in the Finger LAkes region of NY have been awfull and so scary to drive in. There have been numerous days of whiteout conditions and icy, slushy roads. Schools here have been cancelled so much that the students are losing assigned days off from school and instead being required to now attend when school was supposed to be shutdown because of the bad roads and frigid cold. I have been petrified driving the normally half-hour trip to my nursing school, which has now turned into an hour due to my decreased speed (better safe than sorry)...So, I just want to put out this message to all of you to keep yourselves safe and don't rush in bad conditions, better to get where you're going late than not get there at all. Hugs to you all..Be SAfe!!

How it changed my life:

I am MUCH more cautious and aware of my surroundings while driving..

Date: 1/19/2004 7:38:00 PM  From Authorid: 50864    I hate Winter but know what is worse then driving is trying to walk on ice parking lots and sidewalks I am terrified of falling. It is not so bad driving they keep the roads pretty clear here but walking scares me it is like walking on center ice at a hockey areana

Date: 1/20/2004 1:52:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 62100    Thanks for the replies..I left really early for school today and was there a half hour ahead of time, but I'm so glad I did because the wind was awful and the roads are still horrible. The wind just keeps up these whiteouts and spreading the snow back into the road from the open fields here..a friend of mine was involved in a 5 car pileup on her way home yesterday but luckily wasn't hurt and had minor damage to her vehicle..(she slid and just missed slamming into another vehicle, just brushed it)..and a guy in our nursing class also put his car into a field this morning. It's so scary..
