sparklez, that is because there is no such thing as a diet. ANY "diet" that go on, you will always gain the weight. It's a lifestyle change, not a diet. |

The use of the term ' retard ' as a slang insult isn't really very nice, not to mention you're comparing people you don't like to those w ho have mental retardation. |

Eveeryone is going low carb because if the low carb LIFESTYLES. Take the atkins diet for example, it is NOT a diet. It's a LIFESTYLE. Once you chose to starting eating carbs again, yes, your gonna start to gain weight again. Te all american food pyramid prompts us to eat 7-11 serverings of carbs a DAY!! The US Population is becomming bigger and bigger (in weight) because of this stinkin food pyramid....that people ACTUALLY FOLLOW!! Its crazy! Carbs turn into sugar, sugar turns into fat, fat becomes storage and you gain weight. Carbs are a straight source of weight gain. Carbs are the killer in peoples lives. They need to cut the carbs out, cause yeah they may help in some areas of your body, but they will make u gain weight. I lost over 15 lb because I stopped eating chips, ice cream, rice, bread etc. And like the atkins lifestyle says, if u continue to follow the program, SLOWLY you can start to eat so many grams of carbs a day. My mom and dad have been ding this program for the past month and they can have a sandwich, with the bun, and thats it for carbs. 2 slices of bread take up their daily carb count!! 2 pieces!!! Its just insane. |

well thats a very BAD lifestyle at that i have to say... I mean you are sacrficing so many nutritious foods to loose weight... come on people wouldnt you rather be healthy and live longer than to look good and be tired or mal nurioshed. AND when i say mal nourished it really is just that... sure youhave enough food to keep you going but you can do NOTHING if you are on the atkins diet to gain back some very beneficial nutrients... oh well |

OJ Guys, since im getting bashed here for my opinion on the atkins diet I just wanted to say....In the atkins lifestyle you do NOT cut ALL carbs outta your life. You can still eat carbs but not as much as the normal american would. Cause if you do continue to eat all those carbs your gonna 1.)lose the weight, then gain it all back 2.) Not lose any weight at all 3.)Gain weight. Yes, the body needs carbs, thats why he said u do NOT cut ALL carbs out of your life. |

The body needs carbohydrates for healthy brain function, however the amount of carbohydrates that a person puts in their body on a daily basis is MORE than enough to suffice for that healthy brain function. Like I said on another post, if you get up in the morning and eat something like oatmeal, bran flakes, rice crispies, cheerioes, ect, with a non-fat milk you will get enough carbohydrates for that healthy brain function. You don't need them for anything else and that is enough to sustain you for the day. If you spend the rest of the day eating the MUCH needed protein that you should have, because kiddies? We learned this one in elementary school **Ching Ching*** protein creates healthy cells to fight off MAJOR disease and strengthen bones! Take a look at the bone density tests of some people that have led low-fat lifestyles their entire life. Bones that are as brittle as an 80 year olds when they are barely touching 60. You have to remember that a carbohydrate is more dense than fat. So eat a big juicy steak and wash it down with a coke and your body will burn for HOURS on that coke and store all that nice fat for your arteries and your heart to use LATER, when you run out of carbohydrates? But guess what, since you wil probably have another coke, some bread, some pasta, a candy bar, a cookie, or some ice cream later on.....forget it, two weeks later and you STILL haven't burned off that steak. It's a real simple concept to understand. |

Because some people are obsessed with losing weight. Sometimes I think that Scientists should just let us live like pigs because everything that cures nowadays seems to lead to something worse than it cured (eg, they think asprin can lead to cancer) |

It was said by a lot of doctors that 2004 will be the time that most people everywhere will want to lose weight. Restaurants caught onto that and to get more business by everyone, they made it where everyone can eat.. whether losing weight or not. Plus, the US is where more people are that are obese.. because of all the fast food joints and stuff. There'll probably be a lot more people joining gyms this year too. I think this is just the beginning. |

I think it's becuase of the dumb people who sued the fast foods for making htem fat. This way now fast food can't get in trouble becuase they do hae something that is not so fattening so if people do get fat it's there own choice and everyone can see that. |
