the unravel/ C H A P T E R 9ine:
This story is about mistakes & choices. For some people- they can commit the most unbelieveable crimes, the most unspeakable acts against others, and make the worse of all decisions- and live their lives pretty much unscathed. Some people become victims of their choices and as innocent as they may be- they will be haunted an entire lifetime for their own laspe in judgement. Lydia Diane Sterling was a young woman, not much more than a girl at the time, who fell in love with the wrong man- who take away his own misgivings, may have been a wonderful man. David Parkhurst worked overtime to destroy that relationship many years ago- Lydia worked in the trenches to save the marriage. Anna Marie did nothing more than love her parents, remain a virgin, and excel in everything she tried- it was secrets that in the end cost her- her life. James Sterling was swept off his feet by a beautiful woman named Lydia and carried her and her two children on his strong back- despite her hardships and reluctance to ever love someone heart and soul- again. Dylan Sterling simply figured out too many mysteries, slipped and fell on too many dirty little secrets, and was guilty only of bottling up his emotions- causing him to travel into a darkness that was unforeseen. For all of these people and all of the damage created by trial and error, it would and did all come crashing down, it would unravel and Anna Marie's death would be only the lst tear in the seam of their lives...................
The phone rang as Lydia sat at the kitchen table, recovering from weariness and the trauma of burying her little girl. She looked up from her cup of coffee, walked trepidly to the phone hanging on the wall of the kitchen, and picked up the receiver- "Hello?", she quietly muttered, "Lydia-is that you"? She threw the phone receiver to the floor as if pirahna were snapping at her finger-tips. She began to tremble and on the brough of her worst fear-losing a child, was laid upon her- her 2nd worst fear: David Parkhurst finding her, tredging up painful memories of her past, and bursting into the lives of her husband and children. She never wanted Dylan or Anna to know the truth, she never wanted them to know David- she always figured she'd wait till were old enough to accept that James did the noble thing in all aspects of life, except paternal- but he was a devoted father to them. Now as she struggled with her emotional state of mind: enters David, and she couldn't help but wonder how he had found them or why- what did he want? Why now?
The phone rang again. The caller i.d read out the information and never before did "UNKNOWN CALLER" look so terrifying and eerie. After the phone silenced, she immediately called the phone company and requested the number be changed to non-published. Almost 20-years of calm and in one split second her life is gaining the momentum to spin out-of-control. As she hung up from the phone company-a knock on the front door startled her and she jumped two-feet off of the floor. It was Detective Ricketts. She opened the door and he introduced himself. She had talked with the man only by phone and for a brief moment at Anna Marie's funeral. He wanted to ask her some questions. She needed to talk & his visit would be quite eventful. She poured some coffee and they sat down at the table in the kitchen. The phone rang again- still "unknown caller", and she proceeded to tell Dan Ricketts her life story and how David Parkhurst had found her in Timberlake. He couldn't help but be curious as to just how close Mr. Parkhurst had gotten to the Sterling family - or where the man was calling from...........
