A new computer threat or should I say online threat...

Well fellow USMers there is a new kind of computer scam goin on right under our noses. Yesterday evening I was in one of MSN's chat room's when a guy who called himself "MIKESCOMPUTINGSOLUTIONS" came into the chat room that I and some other people were in at the time. This guy was advisrtising to all who could read what he was typing out that he has for sale many laptop computers for only $500, dollars each. Well of course I was very interested in aquiring how i could buy one for such a great price. So we went into a private talk room to discuss the details. I then found myself being slowly put into a game of cat and mouse where he had asked me to send him $117, dollars by western union to cover the shipping cost from his place in Hamilton Ontario. But when he told me the cost for shipping by FedEx and that FedEx would ship it to a P.O.Box I began to think that maybe he is a big liar. Because FedEx doesn't make deliverys to P.O.Boxes and that the shipping costs would only be $29,95 for an over night express. So when I had gotten online this afternoon guess who was there waiting for for me? Yup Mr Mike and he was asking me why he didn't get the money that I had told him the night before I would send him. So I began to give the shock of his life thatI was not going to send him any of my hard worked money because I beieved that he was a big con artist and that he was a lousy liar. I reported him to the RCMP and to Microsoft (MSN) for fraud and solisisitation's.

He was really low thank god I listend to my instincts about what he was really up to. he was going to sell me a Sony V505DH laptop computer with a CD/DVD rw/r and a whole lot of softwear and all the basic suplies like mouse and floppy disk drive 3 and a quarter size and I still can't believe the lies this guy has told me.

But ever since I told him off and where he could put his susposid computer he hasn't been online. Strange huh? Thank god I didn't send him any money.

How it changed my life:

Makes me wonder what next? Be carful there are people online who want to take advantage of well doing tax paying citizens like you and I.

me so mad. And it only takes one like this, to
ruin it for all of us. Even the ones that are
legit. It makes it hard to trust anyone after
something like this happens to you or someone you know..

Date: 1/14/2004 5:48:00 AM  From Authorid: 60052    I've seen this quite a bit over the last year, unfortunately most people don't listen to their gut about things like this. A general rule of thumb is, "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is!"
