I was just thinking about our friends coming home on the recent rotation from overseas and Bobby Vinton came to mind and the songs he sang during another time and another place. Neat voice and a neat man!

*-* Coming Home Soldier *-*

I'm coming home I'm coming,
I'm coming home I'm coming home.

Home, I'm coming home.
Coming home from across the sea.
Home, I'm coming home.
No more marching and fighting for me

I am soldier,
A coming home soldier.
No purple heart
Do I wear on my chest.
I'm just a soldier,
A coming home soldier
I know that I,
I've done my best.

I'm coming home I'm coming,
I'm coming home I'm coming home.

The girl I left behind.
Has been waiting patently
She said, she didn't mind.
Cause helpin keep our land free.

I am soldier,
A coming home soldier.
No purple heart
Do I wear on my chest.
I'm just a soldier,
A coming home soldier
I know that I,
I've done my best.

I'm coming home I'm coming,
I'm coming home I'm coming home.

*-* Mr Lonely *-*
by Bobby Vinton

Lonely, I'm Mr. Lonely,
I have nobody for my own.
I'm so lonely, I'm Mr. Lonely,
wish I had someone to call on the phone.

I'm a soldier, a lonely soldier,
Away from home through no wish of my own.
That's why I'm lonely, I'm Mr. Lonely,
I wish that I could go back home.

Letters, never a letter,
I get no letters in the mail.
I've been forgotten, yeah, forgotten,
Oh how I wonder how is it I failed.

I'm a soldier, a lonely soldier,
Away from home through no wish of my own.
That's why I'm lonely, I'm Mr. Lonely,
I wish that I could go back home.

Date: 1/13/2004 8:10:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53961    I never thought about that one. Another one I thought of was "Soldier Boy". It was sang by a woman. I'll see if I can find the lyrics. I did find one by Elvis I hadn't heard before with the same name.
Date: 1/13/2004 8:11:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53961    Found it! It was by the Shirelles. Soldier boy
Oh, my little soldier boy
I'll be true to you

You were my first love
And you'll be my last love
I will never make you blue
I'll be true to you
In the whole world
You can love but one girl
Let me be that one girl
For I'll be true to you

Wherever you go
My heart will follow
I love you so
I'll be true to you
Take my love with you
To any port or foreign shore
Darling you must feel for sure
I'll be true to you

Soldier boy
Oh, my little soldier boy
I'll be true to you
