my friend is in the airforce and loves it. they have the shortest bootcamp. And I believe they have the best benifets there. He is stationed in Arizona. No war even though he did have to go the middle east for a few months. Didnt see anything scary there though. Airforce dont really have grunts that go out and kill people they usually do the technical stuff away from the war. The only way you would be able to fly a plane is if you wanted to and went to college to become an officer, I believe |

You wouldn't have to do anything with planes. One of my really good friends is an SP in the air force. There are many jobs, the recruiter can help you find a job that you would like. No one can say that you are or aren't going to war. I guess if you don't want to take the chance then maybe it's a bad idea to sign up. I hope I helped some. Good luck on your decision. Well it's not just the whole college thing either. I can't get a job cuz no one is ever hiring it seems like. And I'm 19 still living at home with no car or job I just want to move out and be able to get a car. And going into the Air Force sounds liek a good way to get what i need |

First of all if you're unwilling to possibly go to war and defend your country the military is not for you. They do offer tuition programs for college but you have to earn it just like anyone else. Pilots are usually officers with a 4 year degree in aviation related engineering or a related subject. Last of all when joining any branch of the military, it is a commitment. You can't just change your mind after the fact. Best of luck. |

If you do join the military, you may face the possibility of going to war. It's not optional if they decide to send you. After all, it is the military. |

If you don't want to go to war and don't want to do anything with aircraft, why join the Air Force? If you feel this way military service is not for you. Find another way to finance your education. If you join the Air Force (or any military service) you will take an oath to defend this country. That means if the President and Congress send the military to war you will accompany it. If you have reservations about this do not join any military service. |
