For my schools play we are doing Bye Bye Birdie and tryouts are coming up in the next few weeks. I have never done much acting but i don't majorly stink and I get nervous, but my mom said that doing this might help me get over my great fear of stagefright so im really confused. Should I say hello to trying out for acting or bye bye to it?

Date: 1/7/2004 4:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 42519    If its something that you really care about, why ask. OF COURSE go out there and give it your best shot. I tried out for high school plays since my sophomore year. 7 brides for 7 brothers. I still got on stage, but I didn't get one single line. Ditto with Charlie Brown. Then again, I was out of town for tryouts but the teach was nice enough to fill me in as a Woodstock friend. Senior year, We had the play "the man who came to dinner" and I had a few lines and I was stage manager as well. I do not regret being onstage for any of these times. I think it was pointless for me to be there every day even though I didn't have lines and I was about as important as a mustardseed, but I still had a great time. Go for it, and if you get a part, way to go. IF you are an understudy for someone else, study your part very well, for I almost had to step in for one of the actresses and though I knew the part well, it doesn't mean I felt prepared for that spur of the moment part. SO. Go there, give your best shot, and kick some butt. Love ya tonz

Date: 1/7/2004 4:48:00 PM  From Authorid: 53909    I say go for it!! I'm sure that it'll be fun! It may just help you get over being stage fright if thats what you have. If you don't try out, u might regret it. Go have fun!

Date: 1/7/2004 5:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 51463    I love to act and am pretty good at it (leads in every production I've been in), everyone has stagefright but go with a friend to the audition and if you make it then after rehearsals and such it really won't be that big of a deal. If you want to do it then go for it, everyone has stagefright at first but if it's something you want to do it won't stand in your way. =-bootz-=
Date: 1/7/2004 6:16:00 PM  From Authorid: 54968    Say HELLO! You never know, this could be something you will get very interested in!
Date: 1/7/2004 6:22:00 PM  From Authorid: 57232    Do it! You'd love it. Nerves galore at first, but it'll be the biggest adrenaline rush you will ever feel, and nothing feels better than joining your castmates at the end for the bows. Make us proud! Go for it!
Date: 1/7/2004 6:56:00 PM  From Authorid: 51292    I was in drama and the plays were usually pretty fun and i think most EVERYONE gets at least a little nervous so just go for it if you really want to i wouldnt let fear stop me
