Hey everyone. I have received some bad news from my best friend of 17 years. Her mother was put in the hospital last Thursday for abdominal pains. They checked her out and she has pneumonia and conjestive heart failure. They pumped 5 bags of fluid from her heart and it was only pumping at 10%. A normal heart pumps at 80%. Her lungs are also in awful shape. She was supposed to be out of the hospital Sunday, but has taken a turn for the worst. Her mother is only 45. My best friend lost her Grandfather to the same disease about 15 years ago, and she is not handling it well at all. My best friend is not in the best of health right now as well, and goes into panic attacks very easily. She needs all the strength and health she can possibly get right now. Please keep their family in your prayers/good thoughts/chants. I can't be with her right now, because I'm 150 miles away. Please also pray that I can get to her side soon to be with her and her family for love and support.

I got to talk to the cardio yesterday for about 45 min. on the phone. I got way more info than I could take. But I told him to be blunt with me and speak to me like another physician. So, he did. She doesn't have a very good outlook. The meds that they are going to give her, she is so small, that she probably won't tolerate them well. If that doesn't work, then we move on to infusion therapy once or twice a week at the heart clinic at Baylor Dallas. And if that doesn't help, then , a transplant. She doesn't know any of this, it would just stress her out more, and then she would have no chance at a recovery.
