(NORWICH, CT) — Someone appreciated a hardware store's 'customer appreciation day' a little too much. Salesman William Plantz was serving up his homemade chili over the weekend at an Ace Hardware Store when a thief spoiled the party. Plantz left the pot unattended on a grill and when he returned his saw someone running away with the pot and ladle. The thief hopped into a waiting car and sped off.

Plantz jumped into his car and tried to chase them, to no avail. "I'm sure they were hungry and I hoped they enjoyed the chili," Plantz said. "But I would like my pot and ladle back." Store owner Andy Grant said staff will be more careful next time. "If someone needs the food that bad," Grant said. "then they can have it."
