Today I got sooo freaked out because I got an email about me being sued by the RIAA. To begin with what was wrong with this though I havent used kazaa in weeks and when I did it was to DL some french music lol so there would be no way (I have no 'popular' artists on my computer). *Anyways* outside of that I only had about 100 mp3s all together on my computer and none were being shared anywhere. But *still* I spazzed and thought it was possible. Here is the email I got: ****************************************************************************** From: [email protected] Monday, January 5, 2004 2:24 PM To : [email protected] Subject : Your IP was logged attachment: refcode30120.cmd (99 KB) Ladies and Gentlemen, Downloading of Movies, MP3s and Software is illegal and punishable by law.
We hereby inform you that your computer was scanned under the IP 194.153.175.100 . The contents of your computer were confiscated as an evidence, and you will be indicated. In the next days, you'll get the charge in writing. In the Reference code: #30120, are all files, that we found on your computer.
The sender address of this mail was masked, to protect us against mail bombs.

*Anyways* did research and that IP address isn't mine lol its something from Amesterdam NL and if theres no dot on the end its not even a real IP address. And no this listed IP address isn't being sued. I also checked my *REAL* IP and no Im not being sued lol! So I'm guessing (the attachment was blocked by my email) that the attachment has a virus. So I wanted to share this with you incase you get something stupid like this. To see if you *REALLY* are being sued go to: http://www.eff.org/IP/P2P/riaasubpoenas/ and to see if the IP address in an email is even *REALLY* yours go to: http://www.arin.net/whois/ . Lol ya know one other problem about how stupid this email is: The RIAA cant even supenoa (sp?) for IP addresses anymore legally.
