I personally think he should not have did it. My husband says, oh he could have handled it. However, I think he should be told not to do it again, but I don't think he needs his kid taken away. |

This is the first I'm hearing of it and personally I think its just as stupid as Michael Jackson holding his over the railing. I'm surprised we haven't heard more about it..unless I'm just out of the loop...lol. His wife is just as stupid for letting him do something like that. |

I thought that he was using very poor judgement. Accidents do happen. You should not put your child in a situation like he did. |

Well, I like Steve Irwin. I think he used poor judgement. <But, I know he has staff nearby, and the camera does not tell the whole story.> Dealing with exotic animals is always a gamble. Down here, I was at Gators (at John's Pass), and the owner had a 2-ft alligator, that we were taking turns petting. (It was on a table-so we weren't bending over it). I remember suddenly getting a chill thinking I could loose a finger, because alligators (like crocs) are wild animals. Period. They are not domesticated, and really no animal is 100% safe. If there really is one man who knows what he is doing, it is Steve Irwin. I don't think it is child-abuse, and I think he is a lovely Father, and husband. He pulled what I consider a dumb stunt. Now since Michael Jackson is already on my "bad"-list, (keeping with a d-rating), I am going to be judgemental of anything that he does. Just being honest here. Good post..... |

I think Steve Irwin is a very smart man, especially with his knowledge of animals, and I love watching the show "The Crocodile Hunter" whenever I can. Granted, the guy can be a bit kooky at times, but oh well. I do think that this was pushing the limit though. Where he taking his son with him to feed an animal in a part of the zoo where the more tame animal resided, that would be a different story. But this is a child barely over the age of 1, hardly able to stand on his own two feet, unable to escape on his own if necessary. I love the fact that he wants to include his family in what he does, as he was always included as a child growing up...but wait until they are older. Until then, let the baby help out with the petting zoo or something. |

What he did was definatley one of the top things NOT to do with a baby in your hands, but I am sure that if something DID actually happen that he would have took the bite before he let the croc get to his child. Which it did not happen so I dont really see what all the hoopla is about. |

I'd say Steve knows what he is doing. Heck we all put our kids in car seats and drive around town with them. What's more dangerous? A crocodile or a soccer Mom in a Ford Expedition? |

I have replied to a few posts concerning this issue. What he did was irresponsible. Looking beyond to what could have happened in tons of these cases where people just shake their heads at the stupidity of the situation, you have to look at how a court would view the actions if the unthinkable did actually happen. In this case what this man did was intentionally put his child in danger. It would make for a totally different case than if MJ had actually dropped his son when he held him over the balcony. |

I have no doubt that Steve was very sure he could handle whatever was likely to happen... but any of us can make a mistake and so can he. I like him very much and when I know he is going to be on TV I try to watch him. I guarantee though that I would be very hard to handle if that were my baby that he placed in that dangerous situation. I was so shocked when I saw what he was doing that with out even thinking I yelled... NOOOOOOOOO! I believe that he is a good husband and father though and I very much doubt that he will do this again. |

I think it was very stupid. Even more stupid then Michael Jackson You can not control a wild creature ever. I am sure he thought he could but what if something had happened And the Mother to stand there and allow this to happen. How foolish. And to compare it to Jackso's actions is a bit much to Jackson got carried away and acted stupid. He was in control of the child but just being around a wild creature is dangerous. That is why they are called wild creatures |

i don't think the baby was ever in any danger. look at his other kid. she's made it this far and he is probably raising them both the same. everybody just freaked because it was a crocadile. it just depends on where you live and what you live around. when i was a baby my dad and his brothers would throw me back and forth like a football. they could have dropped me (could be what's wrong with me now!!) but they didn't. they also put me on a tractor before i coulk walk. there could have been a tractor accident.i got my first horse at 3 years old. i could have been thrown off. it just depends on where you are born. i saw the tapes and he had plenty of room to react if he needed to. i just think it's all a load of crap so people will have something to talk about. |

Well, he didn't really think about it. It's so natural of a thing to him, it didn't really cross his mind that maybe it wasn't a good idea. I mean, he knows what he's doing. He's been around crocodiles like since he was born. |
