I Scared A Spider to Death..................Arion1

One day while heading inside one evening after playing with friends, I spotted a small spider crawling along the ground. I wondered how aware the creature was to the rest of the world, and decided to perform a test.

I reached into my pocket and pulled out a plastic spider, the kind with the little clip on the back so you can hang it from your shirt. It had been on my Halloween costume that year. I knelt down, and then very carefully dropped it in front of the spider (I think it was a wolf spider). The real spider froze, undoubtedly frightened of what appeared to be a giant Black Widow, or a Tarantula, which was suddenly blocking the way.

At that moment, my Mom yelled, and I went in for dinner. After supper, I checked on the situation, and saw that the Wolf Spider still hadn't moved.

Several days later, I was passing by the same spot and saw that the spider was still there. I removed the plastic novelty, and then poked at the spider. It didn't move! Taking the tweezers from my Swiss Army knife, I picked it up and gently blew air at it.

It was dead! Probably frightened to death!

How it changed my life:

Everything has a consequence, even some you don't even think are possible!

Date: 12/30/2003 1:19:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 52489    I'd seen it moving across the ground. It was definitely alive before my "probe" entered the picture.
Date: 12/30/2003 1:38:00 PM  From Authorid: 3125    I believe that could happen... Anyway, Several years ago my hubby and his cousin were standing in his cousins garage yakking. The cousin had a bird in a cage in the garage that was making so much noise. The cousin kept yelling and telling the bird to stop. He covered the cage up but the bird got even louder. Finally he walked over to the cage and removed the covering and as he clapped his hands very loudly, he yelled "I said Shut Up!"..The poor bird fell over and died.
