Resistance machines tend to be expensive ( even ones such as BoFlex ). First off, if you're new to weightlifting, make sure you don't fall into any ' myths ' concerning the art, like the one which states that dead weights are bad or non-beneficial; they are a perfectly good method to start ( and progress ) by. Message me if you have any questions. |

Mind if I "weigh in" here? **snicker** Those machines are pretty expensive, but can be effective if used properly. A friend of mine got the BoFlex a few years ago and is quite "buff!" However, I only use free weights. I started small with 3 lbs handweights and 2.5 ankle weights. I've graduated up to 10lb hand weights and 5 lbs ankle weights. The result is amazing. I've lost quite a few inches and pounds just by adding muscle using those simple tools. They were very inexpensive. I learned to use them properly by video tapes of fitness shows and reading on proper technique. Plus they don't take up a lot of room and you can vary your workouts. If you're still more inclined to use the machines, you may want to check out some fitness resale stores so you don't invest too much and decide you won't use it later on. You should be able to find such stores in the Yellow Pages or the internet. Good luck! |
