frozen diet dinners *snowymoon06*

i was reading the newspaper a couple weeks ago and found an article about diet dinners. have you ever read the label and looked past the calories? well you should. since the dinners are frozen, they have to have a lot of sodium to keep fresh - look at the sodium content! my mom gets the uncle ben bowls or whatever they're called. there's about 33% of sodium!

this might be more of a concern for younger kids and people with heart problems. if you give your kids these dinners when they are young, they don't know what they're eating besides a little tray with gummies. they might get "addicted" to the dinners... i know it sounds corny, but my mom does! she doesn't get mad or anything, she just craves them because they're easy to make. anyway, the kids will have high sodium intakes especially if they have other salty goodies throughout the day.

my dad's side of the family has a record of heart problems. my grandpa has had over 15 heart attacks and 1 heart transpant, but my dad still eats the stupid things. i keep telling my mom not to buy them, but she wants them for herself. then of course, my dad goes and eats them :p

anyway, my point is that you should look at other parts of the nutrition label.

note: look at a can of soup. it serves 2.5 people (if i remember right... 1.5 or 2.5...) and then look at the sodium! CRAZY HUH?

Only 1 year and a half of eating soup and I am quitting soup for life before I die at a young age from all that salt!!
