Can't Sleep -Running Wolf-

Hey everyone. For the past week or so I’ve been having problems sleeping. I go to bed at 1 am or so, but the time doesn’t really matter because it still takes me a long time to fall asleep no matter what time it is. It has been taking me anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes to get to sleep, once I get comfortable, which can be another 15 to 20 minutes. Then when I finally do get to sleep, I don’t sleep very well. I wake up a few times in the middle of the night. I told my mom that I had problems sleeping and asked if she would buy me some sleep aids, and she told me no, take a Benedryll instead. I haven’t taken a Benedryll because it doesn’t make me drowsy anymore because I’ve taken so much of it for my allergies in the past. Then I went upstairs the other day to lie down and mom said that she was going to come up and wake me in a few hours, and that the reason I’m not sleeping is because I sleep all day. This is not true, I haven’t taken a nap about a week, and I attempted to today but I didn’t sleep for more than 5-10 minutes at a time. Does anyone have any idea why I’m having problems sleeping? And does anyone have any suggestions on how to get to sleep faster and sleep better? Thanks!

Date: 12/29/2003 2:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 62478    hmm you might be stressed out over something? or just in general....you could try medatating to clear and ease the mind.....turning on a fan or any other kind of "white noise" to help you get to sleep.....I would resist any form of medication you can become addicted and dependent....if I think or come accross anything else I will let you know ....deathletgo

Date: 12/29/2003 3:09:00 PM  From Authorid: 57079    I read a reply to a post here and it said breathe in deep through your nose and out throught your mouth 10 times and on the 10th time hold it and count to 5 you should yawn and repeat and you get tired it kinda worked for me you just have to remember to do it!

Date: 12/29/2003 6:28:00 PM  From Authorid: 52489    Chamomille tea works, and is a natural sleeping aid. A hot bath for bed will help relax your muscles. Turkey contains a chemical which always puts me to sleep (after Thanksgiving dinner I took a 45-minute nap!). There's also a new chemical sleeping aid on the market called Melatonin, which always works for me! It's a natural hormone your brain emits when you sleep. Try any one of these. Good luck!  
Date: 12/31/2003 6:27:00 PM  From Authorid: 36757    *scratches head* i'm not sure if you want to go as far as saying it's insomnia, but it might be. during the school week i go to bed around 1 and wake up at 6, tired of course, but i can't get to sleep any earlier. like deathletgo said, you might be stressing. it (sleeping problems) can be caused by stress of course, different sleeping patters (including naps), or changing your eating habits. those are just a few... good luck though!
