Can we truly tell the future?

This has more than likely already been thought of and discussed, but I could not find it :).

Edgar Casey said that when he went into his “trance” that time had no meaning. Stephen Hawkings says that the time is all around us and that it doesn’t matter witch way its flowing we only “remember” it a certain way (or at least that is how I took it).

Ok now lets go ahead and assume this is true, just for the sake of arguing :). Ok so now we can see the future. Lets use an example, you see a young woman walking down the street. She looks both ways to cross the street, but as she steps out onto the road she is struck in the head by a baseball sized comet (hey we might as well make it realistic). You look out your window and you see the lady looking both ways about to cross the street. You open the window and start clucking like a chicken. She stops to look at the funny noise. The comet hits the ground. The lady is saved.

Now if you are really seeing the future why didn’t you see yourself clucking like a chicken to keep the lady safe? I guess the only reasoning for this is that there are many possible futures, and if that is the case how do we find the best one :). And why would we see one future but not the other?

I am using the preconceived idea of future telling from the traditional standpoint (I have not had a vision of the future, so I can’t say how it really is, but I have seen visions so I can guess how they might look).

What do you guys think?

Date: 12/29/2003 9:57:00 AM  From Authorid: 13546    I think that there are many possible future "outcomes" (actually I think the outcomes are infinte). And the ones that are shown in visions, can be the reality for that moment, which now since you have caught a glimpse at it, you will be able to change it. I have noticed that alot of visions that predict the future, are those telling of negative events. I actually had my own "vision" of sorts a very vivid one a few years ago, working with my mom, in a very cluttered work space, dangerous machines all over the place, it was not a safe place to be working .. and something flashed in my mind, I saw myself walk between two wooden pallets on the floor, I stumbled on one of them, lost my balance and I fell forward, head first hitting one of the machines.. all went black..and I could hear my screams.. the vision disappeared, and I shook it off, until I found myself.. walking between those two wooden pallets.. and I caught myself before I fell forward into that same machine.. I think some visions are used as "warning" devices.. to always be aware of your present enviroment, and know that anything could happen.. You asked .. why didn't you hear yourself clucking like a chicken to keep the lady safe? because that was part of the present time, not the future time, what was seen in the vision, was what was to come, in which it prepares you to change the possible outcome.. or something like that. Hmm.. interesting post indeed!
Date: 12/29/2003 10:19:00 AM  From Authorid: 17275    I have had several dreams where there was a confrontation with me and another I didn't previously know, only to run into them a few days later. In each instance I was able to avoid confrontation! Weird?

Date: 12/30/2003 1:22:00 PM  From Authorid: 62456    When you say "the future" it seems to be just a word we use to express an aspect of time. I have wondered often "what is time really"? And what if what we do can produce different outcomes? Then are there maybe more thatn one dimension than the one we experience? So, maybe there are several futures and pasts. Maybe you only "saw" one of them. Maybe you could have a defferent premonition about the same piece of time and they would both be correct?--great post---IsisKat

Some say that karma really means that in any given situation there are countless outcomes, but only one is the best for everyone. So good karma is picking the best outcome. I'm not sure, its all very interesting.
