Ok...some help here....~Frenchtoast

Ok as some of you know, I'm in the process of learning how to do the splits. Well, I have a question. When I am in the splits position and have my right leg forward and left leg backward (btw I can't do the splits all the way, I'm like half way there lol), my left leg is bent. And I can't seem to make it straight. lol Does this mean I'm doing it wrong?

I also have another question. If I stretch for about 10 minutes each day and then hold myself in the splits position for about 2 minutes on each leg, in about how long will I actually be able to do the splits??? I'd really appreciate your help!

Date: 12/26/2003 8:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 48129    I dunno if Id be much help but when i was in cheerleading I had to learn how to do the splits cuz i absolutely could not do it, lol...one of my coaches had me practice about 3 times a week with like 3 or 4 pillows...they gradually took away a pillow like once a week and I finally could do it after about a month. =)  
Date: 12/26/2003 8:25:00 PM  From Authorid: 62437    Ill tell you what worked for me... Stretch for about 20 minutes everyday before you attempt to do a slip. While stretching, try to hold it for about a good minute or two.. Do this for 1 week and you will get so flexible its ridiculous. Also while doing your splits close your eyes, put your hands to the ground, go as low as you can... HOLD IT, then inch by inch slowly keep going down.. keep pushing it... when you think you cant go any further HOLD IT RIGHT THERE for about a minute (try to get to the point where your legs are so apart that your elbows can touch the floor instead of your hands). Ok where was I, yes! HOLD IT THERE, you might think that you cant go any further but the thing you have to realize is THE MIND CONTROLS THE BODY.. Keep pushing it even if you think you cant go any further. Do this for 1 week and you should be doing the split in no time
