i just went and got my nails done a couple weeks ago (it was an xmas present from a friend) and i thought they were a little too long in the first place but it was too late to ask for them to be fixed. so now theyve gotten even longer and they dont look that great anymore. i dont have money to go get them filled or fixed and they're really annoying me. so i was wondering if anyone knows how i can get them off? i tried soaking them in nail polish remover but it takes forever! does anyone have any ideas? thanks! *hugs* :)

Date: 12/26/2003 11:04:00 AM  From Authorid: 3263    The best way is to soak them in pure acetone, or nail polish with acetone, but it DOES take forever. Or, you could just cut them down and chip away, but you risk cutting through your real nail, and man is that painful. Why don't you cut them down a bit, and let them grow off as much as they can?
Date: 12/26/2003 11:07:00 AM  From Authorid: 15675    what I did was try and cut them off (mine were like an extra inch or two long lol) then I soaked them in nail polish with acetone and it took like 10 mins before I could start peeling them off and man it still hurt! Make sure you have some nail strengthner around for aftwards

To prevent from damaging my own nail I would clip the nails down to my natural nail, then file down the top until there's only a thin film of acrylic left over my nails for which I recommend a file meant to be used on acrylic nails(it only costs a buck), and then I would soak them in pure acetone. I would also ask a clerk at a beauty supply store to recommend a natural nail buffer to get the surface of your nails nice and smooth and finish with a clear nail strengthening coat.

Date: 12/26/2003 11:59:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 61673    thanks everyone...my mom helped me file them down and i think im just gonna let them grow out and keep clipping them. ill just see how that goes for a while. thanks again! *hugs*
Date: 12/26/2003 1:54:00 PM  From Authorid: 60018    Hehe, I can never keep those things on my hands! I would go to get them done and they'd be off the next day. What I would do is kind of chew the sides where it's connected to your nail and try to break that glue stuff. If you keep on gnawing at it they'll come off eventually :-D
Date: 12/26/2003 2:56:00 PM  From Authorid: 29532    You HAVE to go back and have them removed. It HURTS but you have to. If you try to do it, you'll hurt yourself ALOT worse. And you think they look bad now, HAHAHA Just WAIT till they come off! LOL They have to file down your ENTIRE nail to make it smooth so all the nail that peels off isn't there anymore. They will be VERY thin and VERY brittle for weeks. Never do this again. I was modling and was addicted to doing my nails for 5 years. So I know all about what has to be done.
Date: 12/26/2003 7:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 55337    go back to the place you got them done and tell them to shorten them.
