I know what you mean. It doesn't really feel like christmas to me either. I don't know what is missing but it doesn't feel special and magical like it did when I was a kid. Princess Rhiannon |

I have to wait to get my present until Friday. My parents are dead and I can't be with 2 of my children. I just refuse to let it get me down. I am happy for what I have... |

You and your husband need to come up with your own traditions, maybe a combination of what you both grew up with. Start with your favorite Christmas activities and plan from there but thats for next year. Look into your respective ethnic backgrounds and research those Christmas traditions. It sounds like you are lonely and are feeling bad about not celebrating with your family and of course worried about your mother. You are not really alone. You do have your husband and family is as close to the phone. Last year my family and I opened our gifts over the phone. I was in VA and they were in Iowa. Go for a winter walk with your hubby tomorrow if you have snow on the ground maybe that might help your holiday spirit. |

I kind of know how you feel. My family is 500 miles away, so it's my husband, my son and our dogs. We spend Christmas eve with close friends, and will celebrate Christmas tomorrrow with gifts, food and togetherness. We are just thankfull that we have a home, jobs, and can be together, as so many others can't. |

I know what you mean, my dogs been sick, so after about $450 in vet bills, we don't have much for presents, and her disease causes her to become very stressed and sick of anything is out of the ordinary, we cant even decorate for Christmas, we put our presents under a small thing of Lucky Bamboo LoL. We actually celebrated our Christmas today, opened presents and things like that. |
