Well it was originally the world's tallest building wasn't it? I think I saw that on a card that came with a box of popsicles some time ago. No matter how tall it turns out to be will not have an effect on whether or not it has another terrorist attack. The Pentagon was attacked, it was large but not tall. The only thing to prevent another plane from crashing into a building in a terrorist attack is better airport security and arming pilots or guards on planes. |

yahoo for freedom towers. why doesn't the government invest their money into something that is actually productive? oh but again, who wouldn't go for a cheesy monument.... |

I think its appropriate, and stand behind it 100%. I, for one, don't think America should stop building the building it desires, just in case a terrorist gets stupid. Of course, terrorists are stupid anyway. |

I would consider the re-building of the World Trade Center or Freedom Towers to be a productive thing for the government to invest their money in. They just weren't 'some tall buildings' that terrorist attacked you know. |

I didn't refer to it as 'Some Tall Buildings'... I refered to it as a cheesy monument. The 'Freedom Building' reminds me of the apparent 'freedom fries', and there are other reasons that I find it kind of funny. I just believe there are greater things that the government needs to focus on, and this isn't exactly one of them |

Crash, it's all about perspective. To them, they are freedom fighters... to us, they are terrorists. Likewise with the Americans invading Iraq... liberating the country and all, they sure as heck didn't see us as freedom fighters. |

It's about rising from the ashes stronger than we once were. It's about showing terrorists that the American spirit and way of life cannot be broken by their cheap shots. And, like Crash, I am 100% behind it. |

hey, i'm american and i think that plan is ridiculous! why don't they do something modest, something useful? i think they should make a park. plant trees and flowers and have a place of life where so much death happened. i can't think of a better monument. besides.. freedom tower? how cheesy is that.. only the gov't could think of something like THAT. |

if they call it Freedom Tower though I'll puke. Since Bush has been in office everything has been so dramatic and soap opera-ish and that would just continue on that phase. |

My only reaction to it--not thinking about the cost, the danger, or the politics behind it--is that it's beautiful, like a giant modern sculpture that fits in well with the New York skyline. In my hometown I voted against building a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed convention center. I was against it until they actually built it, and I realized how beautiful it was. Yes, I think it could be a terrorist target--but so is every other building in the world. |

Yep, 43948 is absolutely right, it's only a monument to the ( almost ) 3,000 Americans who died in the course of three hours, HOW CHEESY IT IS!!!!!! |

LOL@BCAR-I agree. It is one thing to change our plans to be safer in this time of Terrorists, It is another to cower & be afraid. Build the tower. I for one, would not mind seeing a few Terrorists hanging from it. I know how brutal that sounds. But, that is how I feel. |

They say it'll be the "Safest Building in the World." Ummmmmmmmm. Structurally, perhaps. But factor in the half a million people who had a relative killed by Americans in the Middle East these past 2 years, consider that each one would love the opportunity to take a shot at the building, and it doesn't seem so safe anymore does it? |

For those who think a 1/2 million bereaved relatives is an overestimation, just take a swipe at 15,000 corpses multiplied by only 34 relatives per. Keep in mind that Arabic families are typically much larger than that, and it's not so far fetched anymore is it? |

I don't think they should! They don't have anything that could reach that high incase something would happen like that again why not make several smaller buildings instead |
