Wonderland - The Place Where All Your Dreams Come True

This is a true story.

Wonderland. It's a place where all your dreams come true. A place where kids can be kids, and not have to worry about rules. A place to have fun.

My best friend and I first discovered Wonderland in May of 2003. One day we were riding our bikes at the edge of town, and we came to the railroad bridge that crosses over the Lakawanna River. He relayed to me a story which his grandfather had told him. It went something like; his grandfather said he used to climb up to the very top of the steel supports on the bridge when he was a kid.

We decided to cross the bridge and try to make our way up. So we carefully walked our bikes accross the decaying railroad bridge (lol I was soo scared the first time, but now I can run accross it with my eyes closed) to the other side. When I got there, I couldn't belive the sight my young eyes beheld! It was a wonderland (which is why we named it what we did). There is just miles of old coal-dump material, because thats what Pennsylvania, especially MY area, is famous for. Coal mining. So hey,t hey had to dump the junk somewhere. But somehow, in only a way a kid can see, it's beatiful. There are soo many jumps you can go off with your bike or quad, theres garbage strewn about... and old railroad cars.

It took us a good 3 months to discover every nook and cranny of Wonderland, but now we have, and it's biugger than you think. There are loads of landforms and psysical features. The river runs through most of Wonderland, as do the railroad tracks, which are considered the main road that links the park with Wonderland. Yes.. it's like a peninsula, if you will. The park where we run cross contry, we consider part of Wonderland. Mostly for one particular thing - a small island we have named "Monkey island". (Ill put out another post with a full list of terms)

There are also 'alternate wonderlands' of sorts. They are like the real Wonderland, but less fun and alot samller, although The one has a higher mountain peak than Wonderland Mountain (yes it even has a mountain)

All in all, Wonderland, which spans a few mmiles, is truly the place where dreams come true.

How it changed my life:

Well... I almost died couple times while I was in wonderland... but besides that, naw.
