Friday the 13th, is it really an unlucky day?

For many years Friday the 13th has been thought to be an unlucky day.I personally don't believe in this superstition, how ever bad things have happened to me on this day. For instance, on the last friday the 13th, which was in June, my cat got stuck in our huge willow tree in the backyard. Since my cat only has one eye, she has no depth perception, and couldent get down by herself. Is friday the 13th really an unlucky day? I just thought this would make an interesting debate. ~4moons

Date: 12/20/2003 1:37:00 PM  From Authorid: 61894    It's just in people's minds that it's unlucky. Personally, 13 is my "lucky number" (mostly because it felt left out cause no one else picked it), but if someone told the world that monday the 23rd was unlucky, people would percieve anything out of the ordinary as "unluckyy" on that day - CanuckBeast
Date: 12/20/2003 1:40:00 PM  From Authorid: 32133    no superstition is just a way for losers to pick up girls in a bar lol
Date: 12/20/2003 1:50:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 62423    I think people have it set in their minds that friday the 13th is unlucky, so it becomes that way.
Date: 12/20/2003 1:51:00 PM  From Authorid: 4614    If it wouldn't have been Fri the 13; would you have even remembered the day your cat got stuck? Here is a post that is similar

Date: 12/20/2003 1:53:00 PM  From Authorid: 38601    no, friday the 13th all came about i believe sometime in the 1300s, when the pope had members of the Knights Templar killed on a friday that happened to be a 13th...read the Da Vinci Code...tells you all about it...so no it;'s not really unlucky...it's a superstition with a basis in fact
Date: 12/20/2003 1:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 5061    lol, nope, not onless someone reminds me with"hey today is friday the 13th"then all hades breaks loose, flat tires, car running out of gas, speeding tickets,"giggles" jeanie/

Date: 12/20/2003 2:19:00 PM  From Authorid: 50294    i totally believe it. one friday the 13th i almost got hit by a train (long story) another friday the 13th someone died in my birthday month. i definitely think its bad luck.
Date: 12/20/2003 2:56:00 PM  From Authorid: 28890    My friends birthday is on June 13..we stayed overnight in a tent like 2 hours from out town. Nothing bad happened. It was actually nice because it was fun and we saw how cool the full moon was. But there was too many mosquitos!
Date: 12/20/2003 3:06:00 PM  From Authorid: 19772    My son was born on Friday the 13th. To boot there was a full moon that night. But no I don't consider it bad luck. Actually I'd say that was pretty good luck. ~Gabrielle~
Date: 12/20/2003 3:09:00 PM  From Authorid: 53013    I don't think it's unlucky at all, that's when my nephew was born. So, I consider it a very lucky day.
Date: 12/20/2003 3:26:00 PM  From Authorid: 13297    It is always a good day for me... Then again in most Spanish speaking country the unlucky day is Tuesday the 13th (martes 13) - interesting how it is the same idea just a different day.
Date: 12/20/2003 3:27:00 PM  From Authorid: 60052    My husband was born on Friday the 13th. Personally, Friday the 13th has always been a lucky day for him and I. Last year his birthday fell on Friday and I bought him 5 dollars worth of lottery tickets and he won 500. Normally he doesn't win anything on lotto, only on Friday the 13th.
Date: 12/20/2003 4:07:00 PM  From Authorid: 62478    I've never had any bad happings on a Friday the 13th. Altho my parents were going to get married on my fathers birth day Aug. 13 it so happend to be a Friday. My grandmother wouldn't let them do it. They got married a week later ......deathletgo
Date: 12/20/2003 4:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 31048    No, I don't think so..but I think people who believe the superstitions about Friday the 13th curse themselves in a way. If that makes sense...
Date: 12/20/2003 4:43:00 PM  From Authorid: 10722    It's bad luck to be superstitious.
Date: 12/20/2003 5:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 7830    for a second I misread it and thought you said your vcar got stick in your willow tree lol. I dont believe it's an unlucky day at all, just superstition.

Date: 12/20/2003 7:15:00 PM  From Authorid: 36967    There is a Mathmatical Formula for a Friday the 13ths, more like a Mathmatical pattern, I forget what it is, no one has ever been able to prove this, nor we have never have seen a counter example.
Date: 12/20/2003 8:17:00 PM  From Authorid: 42568    Usually, they are extremely good days for me.
Date: 12/20/2003 9:01:00 PM  From Authorid: 24732    Friday the 13th will never be as bad as Saturday the 14th.
Date: 12/20/2003 9:06:00 PM  From Authorid: 55967    Two intersting thoughts of Friday the 13th: Many believe the bad luck tradition started in, I believe, the 14th century, when the Catholic Church decided that the Knights Templar, an extremely organized society originally formed to fight for the Church, was evil and had to be extinguished. The Pope picked Friday the 13th to launch a quick, surprise slaughter and arrest of all Templars living in Europe. In one day, thousands were killed and arrested, and the leader, Jacque Molet (sp?) was tortured and executed. Thus ended the very influencial society that some people depended on. It was a clean and successful raid. The other interesting thing is that Friday the 13th is the most frequent day-to-date occurance in the calendar year. (At least that was what I read one time).
Date: 12/20/2003 10:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 57232    It's lucky for me! I'm a horror movie fan and the cheesy horror movie red carpet is rolled on TV for me :0)
Date: 12/21/2003 1:02:00 AM  From Authorid: 34814    In my beliefs it is lucky as hell!
Date: 12/21/2003 7:43:00 AM  From Authorid: 19220    Naaaa I don't think so. Friday the 13th had always been lucky for me.
Date: 12/21/2003 8:30:00 AM  From Authorid: 54461    Nope. Hey! I even have a new black kitten. WOW! LOL!. Did I mention he walks past me all the time. NOPERS! No bad luck.
Date: 12/21/2003 8:30:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 62423    Superstitions are not real, people make them real.
Date: 12/21/2003 4:57:00 PM  From Authorid: 15070    LOL.....no, my youngest Daughter was born on a Friday the Thirteenth, (I had married her Father on Halloween!). Interesting post, but no, I don't think Thirteen is an unlucky number.
Date: 12/21/2003 5:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 24673    It's not an unlucky day for me and my family because my mother was born on Friday 13th over 80 years ago. It's been lucky for her because she has been having a good long life.
Date: 12/22/2003 9:28:00 AM  From Authorid: 62085    13, & 33 are powerful numbers, for those into numerology and ritual majik.
Date: 12/22/2003 6:14:00 PM  From Authorid: 1225    Friday: the day (according to non-cacon documents) was the day of the week that Adm and Eve fell from grace. 13 is the number present on Satan's sabaath day (12 worshipers and Satan). Considering this is the origin, no it's perfecty lucky!
Date: 12/24/2003 4:38:00 PM  From Authorid: 62060    No way...*touch wood*
Date: 2/23/2004 10:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    when I was young I went to school on a friday the 13th and before leaving I told mom 'it's friday the 13th...have a lousy day!' yeah she sprained her back that day LOL....
Date: 2/24/2004 5:39:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 62423    Wow Becky. ~4moons
