well.. everyone has a different reaction to medications.. but prozac has helped me quite a bit.... and its not like being on clouds.. its not pot, its something to balance the chemicals.. basically, they help rebalance stuff, and then its up to you. |

If you are normal to begin with, it will make no difference as to you feeling happier. On the other hand if your brain chemistry is responsible for your depression, then the antidepressants can work, and help you feel normal. |

Contrary to popular belief, they are not instant "happy pills". Most of them take anywhere from 3 weeks to a month and a half to really be able to tell a difference. If you are truly depressed you will finally begin to feel normal and not as helpless (well in my case anyway, I don't want to say everyone). I hope this helps and msg me if you have any other questions. Love, |

I've been on it all. From Lithium to Zoloft. Nothing worked for me ever. It either did nothing or made me worse. I am not depressed, I am bi polar. Maybe that's why. |

Lets see I take anti depressants. i took amitriptilyn (SP?) it gave me severe nightmares. I took zoloft, it gave me flu like symptoms. I am now taking Wellbutrin SR. I dont feel any different, but people around me say I seem different to them. So, I dont know if it is working or not. I also took doxipin, but it made me sick too. |

Get a professional diagnosis before you start trying to medicate yourself. Basically, depression occurs because the relays in the brain aren't working properly. Medication temporarily repairs the connections, allowing your mind to function normally, for a while. |
