Me and my mom got in a car accident because she was too busy holding the phone. I told her to stop talking while driving but she doesn't listen. I've finally talked her into getting an earpiece for the phone and she seems to pay more attention to the road with that. |

...probably not...though many things can distract a drivers attention. To that end, I say they should ban hot chicks driving their cars next to me and smiling and waving at me...thats the worse kinda distract there is. *lol* |

I say no. I have been ran off the road by people on cell phones and was almost in a headon once with a sixteen year old cause she was talking with her friends. After crossing a ditch and busting my front tire and damaging my rim I was peeved. But she hit a culvert on my side of the road and totaled her new VW Beetle. Then she had the gall to tell the cops that I ran her off the road but my skid marks and hers proved otherwise. Plus when I told him she was on the cell phone talking when she nearly hit me that clinched it. Luckily she only had a broken arm, and I had nothing but a bad dispostion. Her insurance paid for my damaged truck . |

i think not.... well ok.. if there is a headset/hand free ok..... but i'm not all that keen on cell phones being used in cars because of all the accidents and people do not drive how they should, heck people have a hard enough time driving now a days without the distractions! and until that changes i'm anti-cell phone in car, if it's THAT important PULL OVER |

Well, naturally, whenever I need to use my cell phone, I get in my car and talk to people. When I am done, I go back in my house naturally. I sometimes will bring the keys to get the radio on, that is untill I start talking, thats when I just turn it down to maked background music. Everyone should get in parked cars to use cell phones, the metal frame gives you better reception. [yeah right... I say get some headsets people, they help!] |

For safety's sake, I'll say that cel phones should not be used while driving, however I can't say that'd stop me from using one while driving ( then again, my driving is rather good, so ). |

I say no way should they be allowed to be used by a driver in a moving car..why ? Cause I was almost hit head on by a driver doing just that...scared the tar out of me. My kids were in the car with me at the time....thank God I reacted quick or the idiot would have done some real damage....if you need to talk on the phone then pull over, don't put me or my family or anyone else for that matter in danger! |

There is hand free system that aloows you to put you mobil phone on speaker so you can have both hand on the wheal and stil talk and there is other stuff aswell so I think it is fine to have it in your hand while you drive is kinda riskyso I wouldent do that. |

They should be allowed. There are many other things that distract people as well. |

I think the hands free sets are a good idea, and I've seen MANY people driving like idiots because they're on a cell, but many other things distract people while they're driving, and they are not being made illegal. People eat and drink all the time, and smoke. Women put on makeup, and I've even seen men shaving while they are driving. All those things are at least as distracting (if not more) as talking on a phone. |

If is an emergency and you pull over to use it, sure. BUT for ANY other reason, no way. I almost got hit by a dumb butt on a cell phone. So I put my car in park, got out and LET HER HAVE IT! So, if you live by me, BEWARE! I'm mean as ever when I see people DRIVING WHILE ON THE PHONE! Stupid people. |

*rolls eyes* You guys really think that a hands free system or a headset will help! OMG, get real! Say a husband and wife get into an argument, or the driver just really gets into the convo. Where is your atention turned then? NOT TO THE ROAD! Plain and simple. For the safety of women and children as well as men, PULL OVER! My GOD, have SOME common sence. |

It's illegal to use them while driving in my state. That doesn't really stop anyone thouge. I myself am guilty of doing that and I know it's not a good idea. It does distract me from driving. So my answer is it's definitely NOT a good idea. |

I also say no. I almost got hit twice while going through a green light by people talking on cell phones. One of them didn't even seem to notice that she was going through a red light, and she didn't pay any attention to me, even though I skidded to a halt a few feet from her car. She just kept on laughing and talking. |

As long as a hand's free device is being used, I feel cell phones should be allowed, but only to driver's above a certain age, say 21 perhaps. For years, I have used CB and two way radios. At times, it was a requirement of my job. To me, using a cell phone is no different that using a radio. Of course, I normally use a hand's free system when using my phone, but do still use an old handheld microphone when on the radio. The problem is that most driver's today have no type of training when it comes to doing anything more than basically operating a vehicle. Many do not know how to handle emergencies such as a blow out, hydroplaning, or ice on the road. How can driver's who can't handle those basic emergencies be expected to talk on a phone and drive. Personally, I believe cars should not have any type radio, phone, or anything other than what is needed for basic driving unless the driver has had some kind of professional driving course. |

Only if the cell phone has a speaker or hands-free option. Still, some people might say it should be banned but personally I don't see talking on a hands-free any different from talking to a passenger in your car in which case you might be more prone to looking at that person and be distracted. |

LOLZ...i noe that it is illegal but sometimes when i am expecting an important fone call, and am driving i have to pick it up LOLZ....but ok they say u cant talk on the fone, but what about SMS's there is nuffin stopping you from writting them whilst you are driving! its kinda just like a handsfree except you are using it for writing LOLZ....ok well i think mobile fones should not be used when on the road, but should smoking be allowed whilst driving.....should you be allowed to have dogs in the car with you sitting on your lap...there are so many other distractions.....people just dont reliese that! |

They might as well be, drunk drivers slowly swerve from side to side so it's easier to avoid them. With people on cell phones you never know when they are going to suddenly swerve off the road. |

no thwey shouldnt be used in cars, its dangerous, over here in england it is illegal, you will be fined if caught using one whilst driving, altho its such a low fine £30, it won't stop people doing it. |
