Yup, it's that time of the year again, we spend major money for gifts for families and friends. But what is the best gift that you can give and not have to pay anything for, and you can recieve it in return. Well to be honest there are many, and these gifts are seldom the ones that are overlooked by so many. Christmas is the time of smiles, laughter, joy, harmony amoungst people, and most of all love.

Just think how many people are out there that can not afford to buy gifts, are they truly concerned that they can't. Many of these people follow what Christmas is suppose to mean, a time of joy and togetherness. To bring a smile to the face of that lonely person, to help someone laugh that hasn't laughed in years from depression, to share the joy just by being there, to bring many people together to celebrate and have a fun time, and best of all, to share the unconditional love of friends and family. Some people have families that rather not have them around, but think back to your life to all the friends that are there to support you and help you through things. These friends care, and with that care came an unspoken love of friends. Friends are the one gift you never have to pay for, and they are the gift that can last a lifetime. When you need to talk, when you need to just breakdown and cry, or you just need a place to call a safe haven, your friends were and are there for you. You can trust your friends to be there at the times you need them most, even if you don't think they know they are needed, they will surprise you. There is a song by Savage Garden that explains friendship in it's truest form called "Crash and Burn," this song has a lot of truth to it and will actually show how the best of friends are there for each other all the time. You may not hear from them all the time, or see them for a long time, but in the heart that friend is there for you at all times and will help you through things. Trust in your friends, have faith in your friends, for there will be people out there that may want to breakup a friendship, but they will play the friends against each other. Just remember you and your friends are stronger through conversation and through this, you will remain, while the others try to figure out why they didn't succeed.

So for this Christmas, tell your friends how much you appreciate htem and how much they have helped you, not by a card, not by a letter, but over the phone or in person. This way they get to hear how happy and see how happy you are to have them in your life. For friendships truly are an amazing gift not given to just anyone.
