I've read a lot of news reports this year about racially motivated hate crimes by Canadian teens -- some of which have been violent anti-American hate crimes. I wonder what's inspiring it? I thought Canadians had a reputation (or they used to) for being generally "cheerful" people. Has something changed or was it all just propaganda? Scall |

Wow, I live in Calgary, and I've never heard of things being this bad here. But maybe it's becasue I don't see it, I haven't been in high school for 5 years, and my high school was not very diverse, mostly it was filled with snobby rich white kids, driving their parents BMW's.  |

The way I see we are all human so whats the matter with someone being a different race than you. They are still human just a different type of human. Humans fear what they don't understand you see. But ok the reason raceism is around is cus they hear a stero type of a curtain race and they asume everyone of that race is like that and if they hate the stero type then they will hate the race cus of the stero type.  |

You tend to get groups of people taking on a kind of separate entity... and it can be ugly. Take a kid away from the others and he'll probably be ok with a chinese or a german or italian. But in the group setting they change like Jekyll and Hyde. It's the need to belong that most of us tend to have. A need not to be the one that stands out... to run with the pack. Take a dog away from a pack and he's a playful loving animal. Put him in the pack and his individualism is sacrificed to the group. You'll find this phenomenon in all kinds of groups... even in old people's tea dances LOL.  |
