I think of "big brother" as a government agency spying on people...these are people trying to make money by scaring people. |

Some security companys have shown people vorniabilities (sp) in peoples computers trying to get them to buy there software...and yes it is illegal.... invasion of privacy....and there is also a newer law that does not allow people to take control of your computer....but i cant remeber what its called....deathletgo |

hmm....the FBI is the only people that would deal with that kind of investagion....but it has to be pretty important for them....you could sue the company if you found out there information and had proof on your coputer that there was really an invasion. I know just a few short months ago a very famous hacker got arrested for trying to "help" the New York Times website by pointing out a security flaw. The court I dont think has ruled yet...but I'm pretty sure he will get jail time if they prove it was him. |

I have never heard of this. I could imagine just how annoyed I would be if my disc player popped open on its own. I am glad you posted this so that others will know that this could happen. This has to be an invasion of privacy at the least. If this would happen to me, I would do all I could to track and report the offender. |

well, I guess I'll just go out today and buy something to protect my computer a little better. My virus protector expired several months ago and I've never gotten around to installing another one. |

At least they didn't have my address, than I'd be really worried, but still, to open my cd player is strange. Maybe they have some kind of program that can automatically do that. I don't know how this stuff works. all I know is I turn on the computer and it magically does stuff. |

I get these all the time. My disc tray pops open, but instead of a pop up with all my information, it's just saying that "If your disc tray is open, that means you need to download our software...blah blah blah" and sometimes instead of the disc tray being open, the notepad program will come up with writing in it telling me I need to download their software. It gets quite frustrating.. |

This is annoying..I just logged off and logged back on and it did it again...It is from a company called internetspy.com. Since they are giving out there website I would think that it must be legal. |

That is really weird, mine at work got real bad about popping open all the time but I never had any kind of message pop up like that? Maybe you should call someone like a computer repair store or the likes and see what they say. |

Clear out all your temporary Internet files to begin with. Then you may want to get a good virus scan with a firewall attached. You can also download free programs like spybot, and ad-aware that may help the problem. - Faded Fiction |

In fact it isn't and FCC was in the news last week about suing the company that does this requiring them to return any money they received for the softwear they are selling to do the fix. |
