I would definetly go get the flu shot for everyone in your house. Thinking that something like the flu... something i always associated with just feeling bad for a week or 2 could kill my daughter is awful! I couldnt imagine. But, she is too young to get a flu shot... but my husband and i have gotten them so hopefully we can keep her from getting sick! Please take everyone in your house to get a flu shot... they do them for free at the health department here... i dont know about where you live... Lindsay |

My office building gives free flu shots every year. This has actually become a debate in my office. More than half of the my co-workers get the shot (and end up with the flu anyway) - the rest of us don't (I haven't had the flu in more years that I can remember). The person that works closest to me doesn't take it either and he doesn't get the flu either. The last I heard there are some 50 strains of flu virus and only a few are covered in the shot. I think it's better to boost and protect your immune systems with good doses of vitamins (especially - obviously C). I don't think the shot is any kind of guarantee (personally, I think its just a way for pharm.cos to make money). Scall |

Nope, didn' get it. In the UK only 'high risk' jobs are offered free shots (if being a teacher isn't 'high risk' then I don't know what is!!). I am now suffering for not having got the shot as I have flu...<sulk>! Perhaps next year the school may offer to pay for the shots, right now half of their staff are off sick with flu! |

I got the flu shot because I work with so many people. When the make a flu vacine, they have to guess at what strains will be coming in the following year. It takes a while to make. Often the guesses are not quite right. This is called drift. I usually get one and almost never get sick. You might want to check to see if it is recommended for kids. |

I wouldnt get it.....They basically make a guess-timation of what strains will be more active in any given year.....In 1997 I got the Flu shot, and was never sicker all winter long......I'll never get it again........ |

Too late for me....I've got the flu now *Coughs all over post* LMAO....nah I didn't bother since the strain mutated they were telling us with or without it we still had a 50% chance of getting it..... |

no flu shots in this house. we don't get flu shots because we feel it is risky since it is remade to fit the season every year. also, i hate needles lol. we never get the flu anyway. hubby takes echinacea and hardly ever gets sick, and the rest of us are pretty homebound so we are only liable to get what hubby might drag home. |

On the way into work this morning, one of the attorneys I work for told me she was only coming in for 5 minutes to grab something because she had the flu - she said she also got the flu shot. Scall |

No I didn't and won't. This is a conspiracy I believe in... that flue shots are not really needed. You can't have a flu shot for every type of flu. A positive attitude to health is more important. 36,000 people die of diabetes every year... how many die of flu? I really don't know. |

I've had mine, and given hundreds, even to my family and grandbabies. Yes, i think they do help and may not stop every flu virus but they do help. I'm exposed to everything and rarely have more than a cold. I definitely wanted my six year old grand daughter to have it, she has asthma, and I'm not taking any chances, I gave her one. She's been fine and had no problems. Hopefully she will stay healthy this flu season. |

I'm not saying don't have one... it's up to each individual. However, I have see some nasty side affects that have lasted almost a year. Itchy red rashes. One elderly man was so affected that it has disabled him. |
