I just saw "Master and Commander". I think they did a fine job of recreating the time period and the action was great, but I thought the storyline was lacking, and the ending, with the discovery of the French prize ship's doctor actually being the Captain, while appropriate for a movie that comes from a volume of books 20 deep, I couldn't shake the feeling of wanting to see them chase the ship down and find out what became of poor Lieutenant Pullings that took his first orders to sail her home with the real French Captain still being onboard! Date: 11/30/2003 10:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 47218    loved it!!! Of course it would have been interesting to see what became of the ship with the captain disguised on board but, honestly, the movie had already gone over 2 hours at that point and they had to end it somewhere!
Date: 12/1/2003 7:34:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 62410    Really - it was over 2 hours (I don't wear a watch) -- it was sooo good, I didn't even notice how long it was!
Date: 12/1/2003 8:30:00 AM  From Authorid: 53284    I loved it, but most of the people that I went with didn't really care for it. I've read quite a few of the books about that time period and found that the visual experience was great.
