Campbell's Soup didn't pass the test

My roommate is 12 years younger than me and doesn't spend much time at home, thereby not caring too much about her environment. I'm an avid recycler - I recycle every scrap I can. Every plastic bag I see floating on the wind down the road (and if you take notice - they're everywhrere!!!) I think about how many thousands of years that bag is going to be flying around the Earth. Then I think about how many more plastic bags are going to be flying each and every new day on Earth. I'm starting to see a very toxic and soiled future. Anyway, that's some of what makes me recycle-conscious. My roomie on the other hand has no recycle-consciousness and everyday I am taking her recycables out of the trash and putting it in the recycling (I never say anything to her - it would be pointless and cause stress between us - it's my issue - not hers.)

Anyway, tonight I noticed a can of Campbell's soup in the trash and pulled it out to recycle it, and when I went to rinse it, I noticed there were some soup bits in the can that I didn't want to go down the drain, so I dumped them out on the counter, and noticed that it was all the chicken bits from the soup -- nothing else -- just the chicken. I left the bits on the counter for a while and soon came the kitty, Simon, and he was REALLY interested in the chicken bits. He pawed at them, sniffed them with trepidation, and eventually walked away without so much as a taste. I do wonder what is up with the chicken in Campbell's chicken soup that neither my roomie nor her cat would partake?!? I'm vegetarian, so I don't eat it because I fear for the antibiotics and hormones mass produced chickens are forced to ingest and thereby we ingest. But it really made me wonder tonight and kind of gave me a feeling of validation. What do you think?

Date: 11/18/2003 6:55:00 AM  From Authorid: 48809    What ....you actually found some chicken in the soup? lol. I opened a can or two the other day and found only two (2) miniscule pieces of chicken that you would need a spy glass to see!Any resemblance to this and chicken is purely coincidental.
