The cold sense of nothingness is actually God's presence?----r1

When we all sit quietly and just listen, alot of us feel a cold, dead, sense of nothingness. I was wondering, what we all sense as the cold dead nothingness, could that actually be God? Stick with me here!

We know from the Doctrines of grace that we are all totally depraved. Our senses are flawed and can't interpret a thing rightly. Inlight of our senses being flawed this bad, is it possible that what we interpret as the dead, lifeless, nothingness, is actually the living, active, presence of God? It makes sense to me! It makes sense that a totally depraved person with flawed senses could interpret the living presenec of God as actually being dead and cold!

It's kind of neat to think about! Every time you sense the cold, dead, nothingness, let it be a reminder that you're really sensing the presence of God, but you're sensing it through flawed senses.

David says in Psalms 139:7 Where can I flee from your presence?

Pretty neat eh? We can never seem to flee from that feeling that it's cold and dead. And if in fact that cold and dead feeling is the presence of God. Wow!

Chris

Date: 11/16/2003 9:29:00 AM  From Authorid: 160    In reality God is not a cold sence of nothingness. He is by all means a warm, merciful God who loves his creation. According to the scriptures he is very aware of mans sufferings and has it in his purposes to restore the paradise that Adam and Eve lost to us thus creating a wonderful home for all righteous hearted people.. So the next time you are alone and feeling this cold sence of nothingness, try praying to the Almighty God for help in finding him, and if your heart is rightly disposed he will answer.
Date: 11/16/2003 10:56:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 47162    The point is this! Our senses are so corrupted that we interpret God's presence as cold and dead, when in reality it is full of life.
Date: 11/16/2003 1:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 160    I agree with you in that our sences are certainly not what they should be. If we were created perfect and still in that position we would have a perfectly balanced emotional makeup, our sences would be finetuned and everything else that God gave us to enjoy and make our lives pleasureable would be used to the fullest. Unfortunatly that is not the case at this time so we have to go to the bible for answers.
Date: 11/16/2003 4:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 15070    oh, I get a feeling of love & peace, when I am waist deep in the ocean & call upon the Lady & The Lord. I can feel knowlege, and a sense of understanding come upon me. My Bible is the whisper in the trees, and the sounds of seabirds.
Date: 11/17/2003 3:15:00 AM  From Authorid: 160    So do we worship creation or the Creator? I too have those feelings of peace and serenity when I am in the presence of Gods magnificant works but I recognize the intelligent designer behind it all. And it is to him I give glory and praise.
Date: 11/17/2003 5:54:00 PM  From Authorid: 15070    PamyJo-I am praising the Creator(s). I do not know if there is one God, or One Goddess, but my Creator is Both & Neither. And, in the end, we will all find out
Date: 11/18/2003 6:44:00 AM  From Authorid: 48809    We are all totally depraved? And you perceive God's presence to be a totally cold, dead nothingness? Good grief , who told you this and are you sure you are speaking of God... this is not the God I know! If you learned this in church , I would suggest that you go elsewhere for your information. Mercy!!!

Date: 11/19/2003 10:06:00 PM  From Authorid: 16671    Howdy JIM, good to see ya buddy.
Date: 12/13/2003 9:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 37900    Chris, I think caution is in order here. There may be times when we cannot seem to find or sense God's presence; there may be times when we feel detached, unemotional and unaffected by what's happening around us. However, it's a giant leap from those positions to "the cold and dead feeling is the presence of God." As believers, we must be careful to avoid fashioning God in our image, after our likeness. God's presence is near us always, not because we "feel" appropriate thrills and chills, but because He promised us He would be. You may want to entertain the possibility that God is trying to strengthen your faith in His Word, and weaken your dependence on "flawed senses." Thank you for your honesty; I'm praying for you.
Date: 12/19/2003 7:22:00 PM  From Authorid: 51456    see i don't mind you ahving your beliefs its great! andyou ahve created your own theory which is also very possible to be true. i ahve a different view though. not wuite sure what it is but i've got sum idea of what it may be. alhtoughthe cold deadlike nothingness feelign is likely to be ghosts... what?its happens.. haha
