Hi everyone. Last friday i had knee surgery and i just want to say thank you to all the nurses and doctors out there. before i went in i was very nervous and near tears. well, i was lying on the table and an anesthesiologist (spelling? lol) was standing above me holding on the the laughing gass thingy while someone else put the iv in my hand. well, i was pretty out of it but still there enough to be very nervous. i eventually looked up because i knew the guy was standing over me, he had his hand on my head which was comforting. i already knew i liked this guy because he walked me into the room and was very nice to me and calmed me down. well, when he saw me looking up at him, he just rubbed his hand on my forehead and said it's ok elizabeth, you're doing great. i know it sounds like something so stupid and little but for me, it made such a world of difference. just knowing this guy was watching me as i fell asleep, making sure everything went ok made me feel sooo much better. after he said that i became so relaxed, and not just because of the iv or the laughing gass lol. this post is just a thank you to all the nurses and doctors out there who have done this for some one else in a time of nervousness or panic. this doctor helped me get through my surgery and i know that there are so many out there who have done the same for others. Thank you.

Date: 11/15/2003 8:02:00 PM  From Authorid: 53836    I join in your big Thank you card. The first time I was put under, for my first c-section, they wheeled me into a small room with big scary equipment, but had My Girl playing on a little radio in the back ground. My delivery doctor, a stranger up til then, could tell I was nervous and drew a little angel on my belly. He told me my gaurdian angel was with me and then I went out, down that long dark tunnel to no where. Thank you to all the doctors and nurses that have ever shown such loving bedside manners.
Date: 11/15/2003 9:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 61966    This is a very nice post! I wanna add in the Thank you too. When I was 10 I went under when I got my tonsals taken out. I was soooo scared and they wouldn't let my mom go back there either. I was almost in tears, afraid that something may happen and I wouldn't wake up..but the guy that was giving me the stuff said everything would be okay...he made me feel like nothing would happen. Your post doesn't sound strange to me, I think its a wonderful thank you to all those doctors and nurses out there who have done something nice for a scared and nervous person. I'm glad everything went well with your surgery!

Date: 11/16/2003 7:30:00 AM  From Authorid: 15228    When I had just turned 3 I had my tonsils out. I remember how nice all the doctors and nurses were standing over a scared little girl..they asked me if I could count backwards, I said no. The doc said, that's okay, we'll count for you. I fell to sleep to the doctor and nurses counting backwards for me.
Date: 11/16/2003 9:00:00 AM  From Authorid: 38256    o that's so good of him! I hope i have a nice doctor like that when i have my surgery!
Date: 11/16/2003 6:39:00 PM  From Authorid: 62275    This is somewhat of a relief to read! I found out not too long ago, that I have to have back surgery, and I've heard so many horror stories about back surgeries. It kind of helps to know that there are yet some good doctors and nurses out there that are willing to comfort a patient in some of their scariest hours. ~*Firefly*~
