"The Few, The Proud...The Lines" by Mustang-Renee

  Author:  57116  Category:(Poetry) Created:(11/15/2003 5:43:00 PM)

An ear-splitting silence
Invades the morning
Lots of room for a mind
To start wandering

Blind-sided by Hindsight
Looking back and second-guessing,
Re-proofreading the lines
And killing time

Measuring the quantity
Of a soul's outpouring
That can be held by a paperclip
Tenative estimates, not very reassuring

Valuable messages hidden therein
Depreciating heavily with each moment
Spent...neatly stacked
Never a fold in it

And then there are the few
That find their way through
To their final destination
Beyond this infernal procrastination

Quiet, the morning after
And thoughts turning to
What was said in this release,
While aiming to please

Fearing the worst,
And hoping for the best
Still clinging to the others
That never passed the test
