Quite interesting! I am always attracted to articles on "Positive Thinking" because I am not really positive, but I also notice MANY at my school are negative as well. I am not the only guilty one.I have a reason too because of the way I have grown up. My parents are very cruel to me. Right..Dave..I was recommended that book because I have an attitude that people say is negative, even though I don't think it is half the time. The book is quite interesting, even though I only got to read a few pages. FYI..my counselor thinks Norman Vincent Peale is full of it..he even told me too...which is kind of sad to think. ![]() |

I'm a worldly being who has traveled much and interacted with people of different cultures all over the United States and a few places international. I love the human bean ;-) |

I was a very smart kid (learned to read at 3), was tested and found to be intelligent enough to be promoted to the 3rd grade (from the 2nd - [I was so bored]) but they held me back because I had been in a few fights on the playground (because my daily life was beatings ["spankings"] and fighting with my sibs as a result. Every day was a new experience in humiliation and physical endurance (we were a god-fearing church-goin' family). I got kicked out of the house the day after graduation from high school because my father's philosophy was "sink or swim kid", and he was just waiting for me to graduate so he could divorce my mother, which he did just two weeks after that. "What the hell -- kick 'em all from the nest so I can finally be free!" is what it felt like he was saying to us. To this day, he discourages me from moving back home to Montana even though I've lived all over the country, haven't found a place that feels like home and have often told him I wanted to move back there. Cruel is what I call it. But he sees that I would be smarter if I live in a city earning the money that I do. I believe every single thing on this planet is composed of both negative and positive qualities simultaneously. We have the ability to gain strength through turning our negative experiences into positive ones. It's all a frame of mind. To a negative mind (trust me, I know - I'm no angel) positive thoughts seem foreign at first, but with time and repetion, they become a peaceful way of life. Many good vibes in your direction Groovy Alien. ;-) Scall. |
