I honestly think that whatever you put into your body while your are pregnant has a diect effect on your baby. I have no time for people who do drugs during pregnancy. Think about it. If the food a woman eats goes to a baby why not the drugs the mother takes! |

Kurtvedder, exactly my thoughts, Physicians, don't even really want you taking Tylenol let alone anything else while your pregnant. I didn't do it, just have thought about people who may have. *hugs* |

Isn't this why cigarettes have warnings such as 'May cause complications'? Or am I misunderstanding something. . |

Lemme put it to you this way....My 'cousin' by marriage (My uncle married her mother)....is/was (Don't know if she still is) a crack head....putting it nicely.....She ADMITTED she took crack/cocaine while she was pregnant with her second child.....This child...this INNOCENT baby.....when she was 4 months was the size of maybe a 1 month old....has a heart murmer....and various other health problems was in and out of the hospital constantly.....I Haven't seen her since thanksgiving 2000...but due to the drugs her mother took while she was pregnant and the abuse that she has indured afterwards is increadable....*Sigh*.... |

Social Slacker you are right as far as cigarettes go. But street drugs don't have these types of warnings on them. But most people know that if your not supposed to drink or smoke cigarettes while pregnant, and the Physicians don't usually prescribe any drugs while pregnant. Then why is ok to do other drugs? Thank you Hun. *hugs* |

Becky Sis, that is sad . I'm sorry to hear that. But does anyone think that the father abusing drugs has anything to do with what the baby will be born with or without? *hugs* |

Yeah, Anyone who doesn't know that street drugs can harm your unborn child..Probably shouldn't be having children. That's just my opinion... |

I am not certain about if the father is abusing drugs if that will affect the child or not. I would think it is possible, but I just do not know. -- |

drug use while pregnant would have some form of effect on the child ~ think about it, whatever you put into your body is also going straight into your child |

I don't think the fathers cocaine habbit will effect the fetus, however the addictive trait might be more apt to come into play. As far as your question about mothers who are pregnant doing cocaine...does it effect the baby? Yes Thats a scientific fact. |

We talked about this last night and you know I tend to agree with Blue Knight. While the father's drug usage might affect the genes to the baby, what the mother ingests while pregnant has a direct link to the baby. The baby recieves EVERYTHING from the mother. I know for a fact that scientists and doctors have proven that to be true. I do know of the woman and child you are talking about. Sad. |

Thank all of you for your replies. Thanks for your thoughts on it. One more thought on it, I feel sorry for a child that is born into this world being addicted to any kind of drug/drugs. And hopefully the Parents will think twice before getting "high" or "buzzed" on something, that only lasts for a short time. The innocent newborn child is the one who has to live with it for the rest of their lives and suffer from it, not the Parents. *hugs and love to you all* |
