WWE bans a fan-favorite >VG<

World Wrestling Entertainment has banned the Overhead Belly-to-Belly Suplex earlier this week. The move is considered dangerous, because after you throw your opponent over your head, you have no control of how they land. This ban affects Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle, Charlie Haas, Shelton Benjamin, Bubba Dudley, and Scott Steiner the most, as they all tend to use the move at last once every match. The last time the move was used on WWE television, Charlie Haas threw Chris Benoit on the top of his head; he could have broke his neck or worse. This move is widely loved by the fans. Knowing this, Brock Lesnar asked officials what would happen if he tried to do it anyway. He was told he would be fined and possibly face suspention.

Here is a list of banned moves in the WWE:

Piledriver

Vertebreaker (The Hurricane's old finiser)

Kryptonite Krunch (Nova's old finisher)

Snowplow (Al Snow's old finisher)

Overhead Belly-to-Belly Suplex

Date: 10/11/2003 3:17:00 PM  From Authorid: 59940    I've heard of Piledrivers but don't rememebr what it is...but it still absolutely does not rock that they are banning these traditional moves, lol.Mind you, they really hurt..or at least look like they would *oof!*FE
Date: 10/11/2003 3:27:00 PM  From Authorid: 49689    lol..I knew there was a reason, I didn't watch it anymore *shrugs*
Date: 10/11/2003 3:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 26573    Actually, Jerry Lawler used the piledriver against Coach about 4 weeks ago. Its a good thing Goldberg dosen't use it or he would have killed someone by now.
Date: 10/11/2003 3:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 29387    I'm pretty sure they had also banned the Tombstone, but it's still is used very unrealistically.
Date: 10/11/2003 5:53:00 PM  From Authorid: 13109    i saw that match and i just about jumped out of my seat wondering if he was okay... Dangerous moves!! Love,
Date: 10/11/2003 6:09:00 PM  From Authorid: 59373    The piledriver is set up like the Tombstone, but instead of falling to your knees you plop down into a sitting position on the mat. I think it was banned because after Owen Hart used it on this guy he couldn't move anything under his head.
Date: 10/11/2003 6:52:00 PM  From Authorid: 39107    Um Steiner does a Belly to back suplex. Benoit just came off of surgery and I saw that match. my god i felt his pain. The piledriver and tombstone are coming back. And LEsnar wont get suspended, hes the vince mcmahon love child right now.
Date: 10/11/2003 8:34:00 PM  From Authorid: 26573    Kane Tombstoned the bosses wife on the steps for the ring. I think they just say the moves are banned as a distraction for the wrestlers screw up, then after the heat cools down, you'll see them doing it again.
Date: 10/11/2003 8:38:00 PM  From Authorid: 53909    I haven't watched Wrestling in sooo long..LOL
Date: 10/11/2003 8:48:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 50193    The Piledriver (expecially the Tombstone variant) is now "limited" instead of banned. It's still not a regular move, but it is done on rare occassions. There have only been five Piledrivers since the ban (Kane's two Tombstones, Taker's Tombstone to Rock on a car in 2001, Lawler's Piledriver, and Right To Censor's Piledriver on Chyna in 2000).
Date: 10/11/2003 8:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 62240    I think they should ban any move that a wrestler could land on their head in an uncontrolled manner. The piledriver was banned when Owen Hart severely injured Stone Cold Steve Austins neck with it. Tombstone pile driver is a much more controlled move. it not near as dangerous as a traditional pile driver or an overhead belly to belly suplex.
Date: 10/11/2003 9:00:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 50193    Actually, the Piledriver was banned after Undertaker almost broke Triple H's neck with a Tombstone.
Date: 10/11/2003 9:00:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 50193    Although, I'm sure the Owen/Austin incident was a major factor in the decision.
Date: 10/11/2003 11:07:00 PM  From Authorid: 39107    RIP Owen Hart
Date: 10/13/2003 9:08:00 AM  From Authorid: 13283    All these moves are freaking dangerous ! Its too bad that several people have to get pretty messed up before a move is banned . Razzy aka
Date: 10/14/2003 11:28:00 AM  From Authorid: 28946    The pile driver is banned? I haven't watched wrestling in years and so don't recognise the other moves you mentioned except the pile driver. Guess what? I'm going to see my first live wrestling match later this month. It's one of the smaller companies but still, it will be something different for me as I've never even been to a concert.
