Need more help! I have a scalp problem! groovyalien

I have a scalp problem of some kind. I don't have face acne, but I wash my hair with hard water. Would that be a cause? I had it for years, but it seems more worse than ever! My parents don't have it, but I do. Would it be from stress? I also have a skin problem too that is very close to a heat rash, but it isn't. I was told it was hypertosis pillaris, but I can't find any information on it. Also, I was told that my rash that is all over my stomach, upper arms, back, etc.., is related from my exercise-induced asthma that goes untreated for about a year now because my doctoe doesn't think its bad enough. Could it be from the second-hand smoke I live in? No matter if I was it once every few days or every day, doesn't make a difference. If its hot, cold, humid, or dry, still doesn't make a difference. I thought it could be excema, but it isn't red. It's white flakes all over my head that itch and when I scratch my head too much, my hair gets oily. I know I probably shouldn't be sharing this information on here, but its driving me crazy! Especially since I can't drive myself to a doctor or for my parents to take me, because they won't. They think if I just wear lighter things, that it will change because its a heat rash, but it isn't. By the way, there is no problem in the cost because we are under medicaid. It doesn't though, not even it winter. The reason I thought I had body acne is my rash itches and its like white heads, just like pimples. Yes, I have tried many dandriff shampoos and there nothing by a waste of money! I just wonder if I have a scalp condition of some kind and what could I get from a doctor when I someday go see one? Do you have to see the dermatologist or can't you see a family doctor? I am just wondering because the closest dermatologist is like 40 minutes away and the closest doctor is like 10 minutes away. Thanks for reading and I wish I knew what to do!!

Date: 10/10/2003 5:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 24924    Sounds like Psoraisis. Look it up. You do need to see a dermatologist, and he can reccomend specific shampoos and other ways to treat it.
Date: 10/10/2003 6:02:00 PM  From Authorid: 36901    The Thinker is right. It does sound like psoriasis. I have a patch of it on my shoulder and it is white. My mom has it on her scalp and she uses a shampoo called Denorex (not sure it I spelled it right). It's an over-the-counter shampoo and it works great for her. You should still see a dermatologist just to make sure that's what it is.
Date: 10/10/2003 6:09:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 28890    can a regular doctor help, not a dermetalogist? really..psoraisis can be white? I wonder if I have it both on my skin and scalp? I sure wish I could get it fixed!
Date: 10/10/2003 6:10:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 28890    What can a doctor prescribe for it?
Date: 10/10/2003 10:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 22433    yep. i have psoraisis on my elbows. its not red, but more of a white rash. just go to a regular doctor and ask for a presciption for Hydro-Cortisone. I got it no problem and it works WONDERS.
Date: 10/11/2003 4:58:00 AM  From Authorid: 10245    Anything containing tar works pretty well... many are available over the counter. They don't smell very good, but they do work
