The government gives us no rights as our rights predate all governments. Governments are instituted among men to protect rights. Governments derive their just power from the consent of the governed and if any government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it.  |

Well I think everyone is entitled to "natural rights" no matter where they live- the right to live, not be abused, even freedom of speech might be considered a natural right. If their government supresses them they should have the right to fight back.  |

These are very good points that you have made here. I do think that our government has the say in everything or should I say big businesses and corporations that sponsor the politicians...I think that over all, money is in control. Very good post!  |

Not to go off tract. But one teacher is teaching the Declaration of Independence. The ACLU is actually going nuts over it, because the Decleration of Independence has given by a creator. Shows you what kind of people the ACLU are. |

To me freedom is a confusing concept... We're supposed to have it yet we have so many restrictions. But I have no experience of living in an 'oppressive' country, so I don't really know. As for the government? Democracy only gives the illusion of freedom.  |

America is not a country of the free, nor are all rights equeal. What freedoms we do recognize are because our government knows the people still have the ability to stand up for their rights. If teh government ever feels they can control the people and remove those rights without fear of he people revolting, then they will do so.  |
