This is an update of my top Twenty-Five favorite horror movies of all time. They are in order with one being my favorite and thirty hardly making it onto the list. If you're a horror fan, you'll appreciate this list. On with the list:

30. The Ring (2002) - Before you die, you see The Ring. Does that mean you won't ever die if you don't see this movie?

29. The "Wishmaster" Series (1997, 1999, 2001, 2002) - An evil djinn grants people's whishes, but it will cost them.

28. Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) - The ultimate alien horror.

27. The "Candyman" Series (1992, 1995, 1999) - Clive Barker's take on the 'Bloody Mary' myth.

26. The Ugly (1997) - Simon sees and hears "The Ugly". They won't leave him alone unless he kills.

25. House (1986) - An evil house won't let a Vietnom vet be as he searches for his missing son.

24. Frankenstein / Bride of Frankenstein (1931, 1935) - The original Frankenstein films.

23. Children of the Damned (1963) - Parents Beware, you're children are demonic.

22. The "Friday the 13th" Series (1980, 1981, 1982, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1993, 2001) - Jason Voorhees slashing up teens at a camp.

21. The "Night of the Living Dead" Series (1968, 1978, 1985, 2001) - Radiation causes the dead to rise, with hunger for human flesh.

20. Pet Sematary (1989) - Never has a cat been so scary.

19. The "From Dusk Till Dawn" Series (1996, 1999, 2000) - Vampyres Quentin Tarantino style.

18. Book of Shadows: Blair Witch II (2000) - After the first one was a let-down, this turned out to be a solid horror.

17. Amityville Horror (1979) - Another evil house, but done better than "House".

16. The Forsaken (2001) - Best vampyre movie out there.

15. The Shining (1980) - Scariest hotel I've ever seen.

14. Stephen King's IT (1990) - Seven People versus One Demon in the form of a Clown.

13. Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens (1922) - The first vampyre film.

12. The "Poltergeist" Series (1982, 1986, 1988) - Evil spirits need a little girl to take them to the light.

11. Psycho (1960) - You'll never look at showers the same way again.

10. The "Omen" Series (1976, 1978, 1981, 1991) - The antichrist is here.

9. The Others (2001) - One of the best endings in horror history.

8. The "Halloween" Series (1978, 1981, 1982, 1988, 1995, 1998, 2002) - Michael Myers kills, and kills, and kills.

7. Zombi 2 [Note: Zombi 2 is called "Zombie" is the US and "Zombie Flesh Eaters" in the UK] (1979) - By far the best Zombie movie of all time

6. Exorcist (1973) - Quite possibly the scariest movie ever.

5. Darkness Falls (2003) - Stay in the light.

4. 976-EVIL / 976-EVIL II (1989, 1991) - Dial this number at your own risk.

3. Dead Alive (1992) - Probably the goriest movie of all time.

2. The "Evil Dead" Series [Note: The last two installments on the series are video games] (1982, 1987, 1993, 2000, 2003) - A real cult classic.

1. The "Hellraiser" Series (1987, 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000, 2002, 2004) - Demons to some, Angels to others.

*Cosmic Freak*

Date: 9/27/2003 8:29:00 PM  From Authorid: 36994    Night of the living dead!! I have you seen return of the living dead? If not, part one is the most freakiest..'brraiinnsss...' Well I think the exorcist is the most scariest based on the fact that it supposidly happened, similar I mean, to an incident somewhere dealing with posession. Other then that, this was an awesome post, I'm going to bookmark this and make sure I watch them all You listed quite a few of my favs! Children of the damned! seen children of the corn?:O
Date: 9/27/2003 9:08:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 50193    The "Children of the Corn" series would make a top fifty list.
Date: 9/27/2003 9:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 42568    I own like half of these. You definitely know your horror flicks. Was "The Ugly" really that good? Because the box cover looks really gay....
Date: 9/27/2003 9:54:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 50193    The Ugly is quickly become a cult classic.
Date: 9/27/2003 10:00:00 PM  From Authorid: 42568    Hmm... I'll have to rent it.
Date: 9/27/2003 11:25:00 PM  From Authorid: 49498    Okay well I dont like a lot of these, I like 'different' horror movies, and heres my top ten of the ones I the ones I like THESE ARE CURRENTLY MY TOP 10 FAVORITE HORROR MOVIES (in order) 10. MISERY: nothing is more terrifying than kathy bates standing over you at 4 in the morning ready to break a chair over your head...she was perfect for the part of the #1 fan. she reminds me of my psychotic 11th grade math teacher. this is one of steven king's best stories by far. it effectively gets away with only having one setting and 5 characters............... 9. CARRIE: sissy spacek is the ideal outcast. i feel sorry for her the whole movie and it really satisfies me to see her viciously destroy everyone in her class...makes me appreciate the 70's... she shouldnt have died at the end and they shouldnt have made a sequel........... 8. PROM NIGHT: not one of the best, but it broke ground and became one of the first mystery slasher films. has some great suspenseful, long lasting chase sequences and the decapitation at the end is priceless. this movie influenced some music in a band I like...you can even hear me at the end of the song chanting *NOW, NOW* like the killer does in the movie. it also stars jamie lee curtis my favorite actress.......... 7. ROLLERCOASTER: not really a horror movie, but scared the hell out of me when i was 5. I used to be obsessed with rollercoasters, but after i saw this i didnt ride them for a while. I just recently rediscovered this classic on DVD after 15 years of forgetting about it. its about a guy that blows up rollercoasters while people are on them. this movie epitomizes everything i like about the 70's and 70's movies...a genuine realistic no-stumble around plot, good script/acting, cheesy 70's hard rock, an eerie music score, and a ton of senseless terror that the movie censors used to let slide. not bad for a PG rating. timothy bottoms is an amazingly convincing demented psychopath, and i also think this was helen hunt's first movie.............. 6. FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 3: this is the 2nd best friday the 13th movie because its one of the only entertaining ones. the crew were so preoccupied with the whole 3-D effect, that they forgot to write good dialogue and hire decent actors. ironically this is what makes it good. without the 3-D glasses this movie is ridiculous. but, it has the gore that part 2 was missing, and this is the only one where jason was actually scary......... 5.FRIDAY THE 13TH: the cinematography of this movie is what makes it for me. the grainy film and the poor lighting are exactly what this movie needed to set its mood and style. the actors are all good, the dialogue is believable and tom savini's gore effects are top notch. and the music is scary as hell. this proves you can make a good movie with no money........ 4. HALLOWEEN: i was raised on this movie. it's hard to pinpoint exactly what is so great about it. its the best seasonal movie ever and fits the ocassion perfectly. the music is one of the best things about it. not much more to say except that HALLOWEEN is the best example of why the writer, director, and musical composer should all be the same person.......... 3. THE SLEEPAWAY CAMP TRILOGY: i decided that these cannot be seperated because they are all equally as good. the first one is alot different than the other 2...its a lot more serious. there are no movies like the original sleepaway camp...up until this point no one had ever thought of combining 8 year old kids with blood and guts, and the ending should get an award for being completely unexpected and out of left field. the next 2 are more comedy than horror...pamela springsteen plays angela and i believe that no one else would have suited the part. these movies have to be seen to be believed. i could watch them all 10 times a day and never get bored............. 2. DONT GO IN THE WOODS: narrowly misses being my all time favorite movie. this movie is total crap. it has baffled me and a few of my friends for years...there are NO WORDS to describe how awful the acting, script, editing, camerawork and plot of this movie is...and the thing that boggles my mind the most is that this movie got a legitimate theatrical release and i have the movie poster hanging on my wall to prove it...its full of gore, and for fun you should try counting how many times the cast looks in the camera and says *HUH???* if you can find it for christs sake grab it and dont let go................ 1. BLACK CHRISTMAS: without a doubt the scariest movie i have ever seen. i cant believe that it does not have a stronger following and the reputation it deserves for starting the slasher movie revolution. it was made by the same guy that made A CHRISTMAS STORY. the screenplay is a little slow, but the script is still great and so is the acting. the thing i like most about this movie is something that i dont want to give away in case some of you want to see it. definitely my favorite horror movie of all time. THERE IT IS FINALLY MY TOP 10...THANKS FOR CARING.
Date: 9/28/2003 9:19:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 50193    I saw Sleepaway Camp 2 and 3 before I ever saw 1. Big mistake on my part.
Date: 9/28/2003 3:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 29387    A little bit surprised you didn't include "Silence of the Lambs" (although that could be categorized as just a real disturbing thriller), but your list nonetheless will help build my collection!
Date: 9/28/2003 3:31:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 50193    Indeed, I don't really think "Silence of the Lambs" was really a horror movie
Date: 9/29/2003 6:43:00 AM  From Authorid: 60162    I didnt like a lot of these films... LOL... oh well!
Date: 9/29/2003 6:43:00 AM  From Authorid: 60162    Texas Chainsaw?

Date: 9/29/2003 6:44:00 AM  From Authorid: 60162    Braindead AKA Dead Alive?
Date: 9/29/2003 6:44:00 AM  From Authorid: 60162    I apologise Candymans in there....oh FRAILY!!!!
Date: 9/29/2003 6:44:00 AM  From Authorid: 60162    Candyman?
Date: 9/29/2003 6:46:00 AM  From Authorid: 60162    Damn, i missed Deadalive too, sorry
Date: 9/29/2003 7:00:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 50193    I'm not too big of a fan of the Leatherface character. Texas Chainsaw Massacre would probably make a top fifty list, but it just didn't make this top thirty cut.
Date: 9/29/2003 7:00:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 50193    I never got to see Frailty.
Date: 10/4/2003 10:26:00 PM  From Authorid: 62100    Some of those I have never seen, but I agree with alot of them..a few that I would include strictly as must sees for Halloween.."The Scarecrow" really freaky movie, I remember watching that on Halloween as a kid..."Children of the Corn", "Reanimator", ohh and what about "Witchboard"?? Since you mentioned alot of vampire movies I have to recommend "Salem's Lot"..that movie STILL freaks me out.
Date: 11/3/2003 3:30:00 AM  From Authorid: 49763    Alright Metalliman (sp?) for bringing up some of the B-rated horror films. I would like to point out that The others is classified as a drama not a horror. I personally like April fools it has a twist around every corner. Not a bad list for a rough draft but it seriously needs to be revised. PS Scary Movie 3 made the Ring into a better movie. ~~
Date: 11/3/2003 3:37:00 AM  From Authorid: 49763    The Exorcist is one of the best movies of all time I just couldn't stop laughing (does that make me sadistic?) well anyway great movie ecspecially when you have ice cream. PS No Nightmere on Elm Street ?? The original won the New York Times for scarriest scene ever. ~~
Date: 11/3/2003 6:24:00 AM  From Authorid: 28946    Have you watched House 2? It's the sequel and not to bad. And then there is a movie called The Other made in the 70's starring Uta Hagen. It's weird and twisted.
Date: 11/4/2003 11:33:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 50193    I believe I have seen House 2. It wasn't all that bad, I suppose.
Date: 11/4/2003 11:33:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 50193    Nightmare on Elm Street was VERY CLOSE to making this list. Consider it number 31.
