MY BESTFRIEND DIED

I remember the way you looked at me.
Your soul shined right through.
I pray to God that I don't fade away.
into the memories of you.

I look through the hour-glass
as time rewinds.
Misty flashbacks of my past
to a time when you were mine.

And now I'm writing this poem
tears dripping down my face.
The pain suffocating me
you'll never be replaced.

You left me behind with memories
tears, and broken dreams.
I know you're looking down on me
I know your smile still beams.

I remember waking up smiling
at the bright new sunny day.
Until my dad called me downstairs
to tell me that you'd passed away.

I remember when we were kids
we grew up together.
My promises to you
I'd love you forever.

Maybe someday the pain will subside
but I guess for now
everything has turned into
the pain I try to hide.

Maybe in the distant future
somewhere far in space.
We can see each other again
and the old memories will be replaced.
